Justin Brown says:

Could you please tell me the product you have stuck into your new oil
bottle for pouring? I’ve never seen such a thing and I’d love to eliminate
the need for a funnel/cleanup of funnel.

andyb brown says:

Oil is filthy, use newspaper, rags, wear gloves, anything to keep that mess
down.
You can use the fabric belt tensioners to release the filter body but cup
socket best.

Leopold Birkholm says:

Very nice – thank you for making this guide!

vectraguy says:

You must push the cartridge in the filterhouse.Press untill your hear al
little clic. And then place the filterhouse on the engine

Kieran James Whelan says:

Fantastic – very helpful 10/10.

allgoodhere1 says:

most vw’s have the filter on the top.

mymitsu6g72 says:

How much oil goes in the 1.9t ?

David N says:

what ive only had one car with a filter on the side out of fifteen many
makes/ models

Edward P Campbell says:

Thank you, good sir. I searched everywhere on the Internet for over an hour
to find the simple answer to: where the oil filter was. No luck. Then after
viewing this, by chance, there it was, it had been staring me in the face,
but not where I expected it to be. On most engines the oil filters are on
the side bulkhead of the engine block..! Couldn’t see the wood for the
trees. Many thanks for this idiots guide but saying a few words would have
been helpful too, don’t you think? Cheers, Paul

Tom Jones says:

1$ rubber gloves are helpful here

Mark's Garage says:

What year? This Volvo is a 1.6L, year 1998. It takes 5.4 litres of oil.

Micheal O Connor says:

What size is the oil filter cup that fit over the filter cover?

TrveIrrlicht says:

A little too fast on the filter seal ring. But I think I see where it
should go.

Edward P Campbell says:

Words like: “Don’t bother trying to use a traditional chain wrench to
release it because it will get jammed and you will spend a half hour trying
to release it..!. Plus, the oil cover is ABS plastic which could be damaged
without the correct adapter. You have to use the proprietary oil filter
adapter with a ratchet drive wrench, Homer”..! it might seem obvious to the
initiated – but that’s where You Tube isn’t a proper mechanics workshop
lesson, where questions and advice is free flowing…

Mark's Garage says:

I’ve measured the oil socket and it measures 86mm (inside measurement).
There are two markings on my socket. 1 side says ‘S40/S80’ and the other
side says ‘86/16’ if this helps as well.

allgoodhere1 says:

Thank you, your video is great help. I have been looking for the oil filter
in a V40 and couldn’t find it, I had never thought of looking under the
engine for it. All the best

Fawaz Al says:

BMW mercedes and Volvo uses the same wrench size 86mm

Mark's Garage says:

Yeah, you need the volvo oil filter socket. They are £7-£10 off ebay or go
to an automotive store. I think they fit most volvo models.

Micheal O Connor says:

Thanks.

David N says:

one was on the side dont know where youve got your info
