The 01 – 04 Volvos are known to have a faulty designed CEM. At some point many of these CEM begin to overheat because of design flaw. This overheating causes many electrical issues and various other problems. The way to fix this for less than $15 is to add a 12 volt computer fan. Watch video for the details. Subscribe for more.

I had the same problem in my 04 s60. I removed the CEM on pulled the metal cover off of one of the components and wired up a computer fan. The metal cover trapped a huge amount of heat…it’s been 2 years and still works great. I’ve heard of people using tiny heat sinks, also.
