In todays episode we will continue the repair of wiring harness and run new wiring for the fan resistors. The connectors are no longer available from Porsche so we will show you how to reuse your existing connectors and do a OEM quality repair.

Thank you for this video. It is good to know how to re-use connectors that were mechanically crimped onto the wire conductors. In rebuilding any wiring harness, i think that it is very important to preserve the insulation color scheme, even at the expense of larger diameter wiring so that the replacement wiring is consistent with the vehicle’s wiring diagrams. Nowadays, you can pretty much source automotive wiring in any combination of solid or striped colored insulation for any gauge and temperature range. Not too impressed by Porsche’s design using these fan resistors to control the coolant fan speeds at the expense of the electrical wiring being exposed to the high heat from the resistors. Despite all of the innovative engineering in this car, Porsche really cut corners on this sub-system.
