GREAT ENGINES
394 oldsmobil was the same
I'm hoping that someone is writing down all the engine rebuilding knowledge that Mr. Smith has so it's not lost forever.
The big block chevy has priority oiling. Mains first then lifters.I don't think the big olds is the same.
It's not to bleed air, it's for oiling the chain. Do not use restrictions. If anything use .040 oil hole push rods to prevent over oil on valve train.keep oil around your mains and rods. Go ask Bill Trovato, Hunt brothers. John at Rocket Racing.
Would this have been in a 70 Oldsmobile 98? My Dad always drove the hell out of that car and that 4 barrel carb just howled!. He bought it in 1976 from a doctor, i was 8 and i clearly remember him driving up and seeing it for the first-time. Many great memories of that car. We had it till the early 80s.
TO stop Oldsmobile engine's from blowing up around 5 grand. You have to restrict the oil holes in the mains. Otherwise they empty the oil pans out, and the oil flooded the top end. Dr. Oldsmobile sells a kit for that, and it keeps the oil downstairs where it's neeed on these torque monsters. I payed attention to alot of old head's growing up. NOW I'm one. I watch his videos over and over, and never get bored.
292 Chevy had the same oil bleed hole
Just love the head motions he does, great man!
Thats the automotive rain man savant
Man is an encyclopedia of automotive history
That's the same problem that subaru had in the 1980s but they didn't have a easy way to bleed air off the lifters. THEY WOULD CLACK LIKE A BASTERD.
Air pockets…like the many causing Airhead Stupidity Syndrome in the Democrat Party…oops…too late…I said it.
