In this series, I break down whether it’s worth buying an old car like my Acura TL instead of leasing or financing a new one. I compare real costs, reliability, and overall value to help you decide what makes the most sense. I also do all the fixes myself, so you can follow along and decide for yourself!

Talk about dirt cheap. I got an 09 TL SH last year for $1500. At the time the only issues were the AC and water pump. Since, I've spent about $6000 to get everything fixed. AC Pump, Condensor, Water Pump and Alternator. That's it. She purrs like a kitten and only 219k miles.
A shop goes by a book for labor times. A job might take you an hour, may be 2.5 in the book.
How much does it all cost?
I own 1st gen 06 TSX. I presume I still need 91 octane gas? Car @ 540,000km and feeding it premium since day 1….since on original timing chain
I’ve always wanted a 3G TL, this series is a hidden gem for me great work !
Yea I did my brakes and had the same problem with the hardware hitting the rotor.
At 538,000km, original engine and original transmission.
I already put in brand new struts, new lower control arms, and lower balljoints.
When the engine or transmission goes, should i just rid the car, or should I swap in a used engine / transmission….whichever is broken.
Body already has rust, but when car is jacked, it still holds and no abnormal sound
Nice video! I am looking for a manual in the future
Thanks for the info amazing video bro
Well I'm 67-year-old woman and I'm gonna learn to be A mechanic. I can't afford to pay for the work to be done so I bought me a book, I've got the internet and hopefully things will turn out okay for me. Well I don't like being a mechanic it's not the grease it's mostly climbing under the car. The most expensive part so far is buying tools. Well I am trying to replaced my oil pad, Well I've taken it off and put it back on twice now it still leaks. I got a friend coming over to see what I'm doing wrong and maybe we can get the oil to stop leaking then maybe I can move on to the front brake and rotors and the ABS replacement part. I got the Motor and transmission mounts, But I'm not ready to do that job yet it seems like it's a little hard for me maybe after I get better at being A mechanic. Thanks for your videos though they do help
I just got a 06 TL manual I’m working.
Starting a brake job at 10pm brutal. It definitely takes a few hours to clean everything properly.
I would have liked to see the engine get turned by hand to see whether the timing marks still lined up. Good job on the video.
