Newbie @ this…learning curve b/w differences in hoses, tubes, pipes n their ID/OD as well as fittings to replace like oem. At 6:08ish in this video, can u tell me the ID n OD of the protruding pipe? Experiencing huge discrepancies fr dif auto stores. Ex: Asked for 6" of heater hose w/ID of 5/8. AZ 5/8" heater hose took my 1/2" plug. AdvAuto's 5/8" ID heater hose took my 1/4" plug! Can't remove mine right now to check, but taking buses for wrong answers not cool! btw, great videos! Started repairing few months ago in strange city – you're the 1st video on my list. Saw the one where u used a red hose to flush after removing core assembly. Wondering if I could cut off my garden hose n do same if it's the right ID.

My Vlog says:

On my 2001 Ford Taurus.

I replaced that blasted assembly with Heater Hose.

It is a LOT easier, and you do not have to worry about that damn assembly.

I just wish I would have recorded it like I recorded everything else on that car I have repaired.
But, I have to replace the front hose tube, so that will get recorded.
What a mess, and I think I will do it with heater hose as well.
Get rid of all the stuff that will rust, and replace it with stuff that will last a LOT longer.
At least last as long as this car is gonna last, anyway.

I have a 2004 Ford taurus and I need to replace a heater hose assembly and although this $200+ part is stocked at part stores every video I watch is the same name part but the part is entirely different. Can someone direct me to a video of the hose that has a three way spit and it does go to the firewall but also runs to the throttle body and the radiator

Steve Mojo says:

i got a better idea, just cut out the hose assembly & fabricate your own. shark bite brass fittings & plain heater hose. it's cheaper than ebay & far better than factory. Ken K. had the same idea. this is what i do on all hose assemblies, fabricate my own. your other option is buy a small ceramic heater@walmart & operate it w/ac adapter. the 12v electric heaters for cars are garbage. when you look at the assembly it's obvious that there's an unneeded bypass which you can eliminate. put a clamp on it & if you're gettin heat after that than problem is solved. part of ford's strategy is to make money on maintenance. this came to my attention, since someone posted it on youtube. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/kObC78Jnv6I/maxresdefault.jpg the bypass will reduce coolant pressure to the heater core & you get low flow or no flow & no heat. i think it's a dumb idea from ford. I've used 1" brass sharkbite fittings w/suitable heater hose & clamps. you should use the same mounting studs on the firewall w/clamps. use copper tubing or pipe w/heater hose & clamps. easy assembly & easy repair if needed.

Took a screen shot at 7:35 very helpful, thanks!
Will be flushing it Saturday
Giggity

Teresa 67 Factoid says:

I redid all the coolant heater hoses, by making them without the rust prone metal tubes. Lots of hose clamps, but it's better than the original Ford design. 622k and counting.

Jeff says:

Maybe your camera is having a hard time focusing because you are constantly shaking it back & forth, up & down, left & right – as if you are shivering in an ice-cold winter blizzard because you left the house with just a t-shirt on.
I've watched many of your videos before and none were like this video with constant shaking. My nausea is nearing the point of being sea-sick. Perhaps it has no built-in stabilization feature.
Thanks for being a good sport and listening. I did btw give you a thumbs up, on all your videos. Cheers!

Jeff says:

At 3:40 you didn't mention there's an electrical connector plug in the way which is blocking access to the nut – or how to remove it, so I'm stuck trying to figure this out before I can move forward.

THX 1138 says:

Do you smoke? you seem out of breath and breathing heavily into the mike, it's very irritating!

Annie Sheher says:

Good explanation on your video plus great work

Jim Jones says:

white vinagar works great to clean ..can you just bypass all that and run direct?

Alucard Lledroc says:

Seeing how the Vulcan engine seems to be more corrosive than others check to see if water pump impeller isnt mostly rusted away. My impeller looked like a throwing star. Had some heat on highway but none in town at all, changed and now heat all the time.

Bob Recher says:

I replaced that metal hose rusted pos with an all rubber one I made from quality hose.
