Great video. This helped me work up the courage to replace the fuel filter
on my 2009 528i (E60). BTW, the BMW tech I consulted said the switch for
the fuel filter, which is on the left tank could be done with 1/2 or less
because the fuel is siphoned by a “Jet Pump” to the right as the tank is
trained. He was right. I did the procedure successfully with slightly 1/2 a
tank.

But, my FL is a NAS one, not for Europe, and I am doing my first steps with
my car, I don’t know where many things are, let’s say I am a beginner. Are
you talking about the pipes connected to the ramp? Please send me a photo
of the 2x fuel feed pipes location for the Kv6 to raam@tut.by if possible.
I am not in a hurry. Once again thanks a lot for your reply and your video.

Jasco Kovacevic says:

Hi Patrick, assuming your 1.8 MAP is at the same location as mine, that
sensor would be on the fuel injector rail closer to the driver’s side. I
will try and get a photo of it when the weekend comes along when i have
time to have a look and will send.

Jasco Kovacevic says:

Locking ring fits in very easily, piece of cake. The locking ring fits in
as easy as a socket fits onto a bolt head of the same size! Then on the
locking ring just put a socket with a wrench and turn, it’s not done up
that tight at all either. You might be better off simply replacing the
whole fuel pump which comes with a filter inside, no need to mess around
with the filter then plus all new components and parts.

Jasco Kovacevic says:

You got it, the pipes connected to the fuel feed rail, give me a week, as i
usually only do some work to it on weekends, give me a week and i’ll try
and get you a photo of the location… Thanks for watching, Jase.

raamRB says:

Hi, Jasco. Thanks a lot for your fast response. Please is it possible for
you to send me a photo of the place where are the two feed pipes? I have
changed the pump at the Local Service Center and I have the old pump at my
disposal, so I have already trained how to take the filter off from the
pump. After watching your video and taking a look at the Workshop manual I
have the intention to replace the fuel filter next time.

Jasco Kovacevic says:

Glad it helped Sujeet, cheers 🙂

raamRB says:

I have a FL 2.5 and the procedure is the same. I would like to know if you
just proceed to change the filter or you depressurized the fuel system
previously as indicated in the WorkShop manual. If you depressurized the
fuel system, please how you did it? If not, did all work nice after
changing the filter without depresssurization? Thanks a lot before hand.

Fantastic video.

Jasco Kovacevic says:

..cont.. plastic brackets that are on the plastic fuel pump casing, i’ve
seen many occasions wherer people doing this have done well, but have tried
to force the filter out & have broken the plastic contacts… they still
put it back together fine, but the filter moves inside as 1x bracket is
broken, and when the filter moves out of place, the o-ring slips or moves
and when you get a car that starts to stutter and lose power, now you know
why…! Let us know how you go… J 🙂

Patrick McGahan says:

Hi jason, I have a freelander 1998 1.8k and I need to change the map
sensor. Any ideas how I could go about it? Thanks Helen

Jasco Kovacevic says:

Thanks, it’s all about keeping the Internet free. I find countless things i
need on the Net, so in return, I thought I’d carry out some work and post a
video to help any Freelander owners out there.

raamRB says:

Please pardon, the pipes connected to the rail? and not ramp

Jasco Kovacevic says:

Hi, I actually have both the 1.8 that I worked on as well as a Kv6 2.5
baby.. To d/pressurise your fuel system, disconnect the battery, then
disconnect the 2x fuel feed pipes where the connection points are.. you
will find that both have quick release type buttons, simply press and
disconnect. You will get a little fiel spillage naturally but not much. The
connection point where the quick release is in the engine bay on the left
hand side. It all worked fine, i didnt d/p it on this occasion….

retrorestore says:

HI, Jasco, Just added your video response, would you do the same for me?
Regards Retro

raamRB says:

Don´t worry on time, when possible for you or when you need to do any work
with the car. You have already done a lot for all of us. Thanks a lot for
your efforts.

Jasco Kovacevic says:

..cont. from before…. but on many other occasions, i did depressurise it
and it still worked fine. That’s where the 2x quick release buttons are on
the 2x fuel feed pipes for the Kv6, for the 1.8, they are slightly
underneath the intake manifold. Let me know how you go. Disconnect the fuel
feed pipes, you will get some spillage but not much, then you have d/p your
fuel system. I would recommend you d/p it. Just change the filter and
you’ll be right, just be careful not to break some of the …

How did you manage to fit the Locking ring? Did you just fit it over the
top?
