Tired of depressed people like these morons lifting their truck just so it
looks good. I mean just listen to these guys. Try some Zoloft mixed with
tequila shots to liven shit up. In the meantime, I would never take that
crumbling rust bucket off road with the rusted out frame. Anything over 3
inches is useless, unless you are rock crawling in Moab and then you have
to worry more about tipping, plus it handles like absolute shit on the
pavement. Feels like a slippery greased floaty magic carpet ride in a
tornado. Fucker’s steering wheel is gonna be spinnin over the damn place
driving with white knuckles with the ass puckered so tight he could snap
steel crow bars in half. Fuck that shit. Go with a 2 or 3 inch max. 4 1/2
on a box XJ is fuckin retarded and looks even more retarded. Especially
with 31 Mickeys which are worth twice than his damn jeep.
qssneaky I have had a handful of XJ’s with more than 3″ of lift. The
problem you are talking about is when you do not have the correct control
arm length it changes the caster of the axle and it drives like a jacked up
shopping cart from Walmart. If you use relocation brackets or a long arm
kit(my recommendation for more than 3″ of lift) it will drive as good as
stock or even better. As for using Rusty’s brand, I have found it to be a
terrific brand, not once have a had a problem with their products. I have
installed at least seven kits from them on my own vehicles and
friends/customer vehicles. Not to mention all of the individual parts I
have ordered from them. As for the rust….. No way in hell will I do an
install on a vehicle with structural rust. Fix that first or no lift.
One more thing…… Pressure wash the damn thing before you work on it,
you will eat less crud that way!
Great project but I did notice some rust issues on the frame that could be
a problem with some serious off road use. Have fun 🙂 I might pick up a
Southern Cherokee and do the same project for some mild off road and rock
climbs, might need lockers for that though :-)
yeah they are always putting together kits. I’m just saying this particular
kit with these tires and components was off there website not long after he
made the order. But that was years ago now maybe they rotate them or
something idk lol
There is no reason to compress the springs, Reinstall lower arms Bend the
tabs to the side under the upper control arms, Lower the axle! Track bar is
the last step, Obviously this is your first SIMPLE lift. Also have fun with
that Rusty’s Sag omatic lift.
seasoned indeed lol it needs body work before the end of this December to
pass inspection… ill video the processlol The TJ is coming along okay im
about to put up another video! thank for comments they help keep the
motivation up!
the whole rear axle looks stock. Just wondering why you decided to keep it
and not put something a little stronger in while you were replacing
everything else. . that is all.
looks nice, i lifted my 99 xj about a year ago and love it. did you have
any drive shaft vibrations with your lift or did the cross member drop take
care of it.
yeah that would be good but my brother uses it as a daily driver. It sees
occasional light trail use, nothing demanding. I dont see him justifying
the swap…

Hows that lift holding up? Trying to decide between the rustys and iron
rock
You guys sound and look so depressed. I would be smiling ear to ear putting
this together.
4.5″ for 31’s….
improve the gas mileage too LOL
looks good, although would have liked to see some rust repair in the
bottom…To make it more detailed
lol 31’s
Why put the pos ball joint trac bar in should of upgraded to the solid trac
bar with HD Mount!!! Death wobble is in your future.

Did you need to install a pitman arm?
Wow very cool I’m dying to put a lift on my 98 zj 4.0 with 220,000 on her u
think its worth it
It’s a craftsman.I’m not sure of the exact model off hand.

How much did you spent on the repairing work and on the tires and other
parts? how much in total?
Amen to that!
how does it ride with the trans trop kit?
Nice xj! Can someone tell me the average price for a lift kit please?
Thanks sounds like a nice ride!
you ever go over nh way?
I think the kit was around 1500 tires included. they dont offer this same
kit any more and I’m sure prices have increased by now. 🙁
why? I’m confused.
Like this if u dont use sway bars like a boss 😉

how muc would it cost to do a lift like that with te new tires and stuff??
how were the tires for daily use?
i have the same lift for my xj but dont the 31s seem way to small to you ?
