Thank you for sharing this video. I bought an used Grand Cherokee 2005 from
an authorized dealer, Arrigo Dodge. I did not notice first that the
interior rear door handle broken when I bought my var, as well as the
broken brake pads and rotors. I asked for checking my brakes and they
wanted money for it. So I did not even mentioned about the door handle
afterwards. Now I am gonna try to fix that myself.

Terry Moore says:

I was quoted the same price and I noticed everyone who owns this model has
the same issue. If you haven’t noticed it yet, the plastic parts all over
this model break. At this moment the other area of issue is the trunk but
I’m sure I will find others in the future.

Raquel White says:

I had the same problem, ordered the after market replacement handles, they
worked perfectly. Relatively easy to install. Replaced 2 of the handles and
then got rid of the stupid vehicle, nothing but problems. If your stuck
with yours, I have 2 more replacement handles. Let me know if you’d like
them. raquellynnwhite@gmail.com

Steve LaFleur says:

I’ll try and resubmit the request. Not sure what happened.

wildbilltexas says:

Thanks for the video, I have a 2006 4,7 V-8 Laredo and one large piece of
plastic around the screw has already broken off and it’s cracking around
the handle. I’ve supeglued the cracks but I doubt its going to last long.

Darius Thomas says:

mine just broke this weekend. I’ll be calling Chrysler as well. Funny thing
is that I’m in Chrysler Automotive program at school now. LOL

UpNorthWi100 says:

How in the world did you do it? What year is your jeep? My attempt with
Chrysler failed. They brushed me off saying my 2006 JGC Limited was too old
and out of warranty. They also denied any complaints filed with the NHTSA
(I filed also). Glad you got your case resolved, I’d love to have a factory
replacement.

Steve LaFleur says:

Chrysler didn’t make good on ours either. It’s why I will never buy another
one. I’m pretty disgusted with American vehicles as it stands today, and am
leaning towards buying Euro built stuff.

Marina Farra-Swiatek Barnett says:

Thanks for the video. I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 3 broken
handles. The passenger handle is totally unusable. You have to roll the
window down to open the door! This is surely a factory defect and a safety
hazard if you’re in an accident and can’t open the door. I have seen the
parts on ebay but wasn’t sure if they were reliable. I’m so angry! I only
have 48,000 miles on it. I guess complaining to Jeep or the dealership is
futile. I guess I should try though. This sucks!

brentwoodkris says:

I was going to approve this as a video response to my vid, but I guess you
removed the request. In either case, glad you went through with the new
installs. I’ll be doing the same for my father’s ’05 this weekend.

Steve LaFleur says:

Just as a follow up, Chrysler never made good on the issue. We have since
gotten rid of the vehicle, and I have personally committed to never
purchase a Chrysler product again. Regardless, I hope the video helps and
good luck.

darkadaberry says:

The door handles are the easiest of the issues with that model year jeep!
Yeah, I’ve only had to replace one, knock on wood! But has anyone
experienced the flickering of your lights??? Every time u hit a bump in the
road or the reflectors in the street, it happens! Doesn’t do it all the
time, but yet its still annoying as hell!!

Terry Moore says:

Thank you very much for making this video and for the additional research
you’ve shared. Obviously I have the exact same problem; otherwise I would
have never searched broken Jeep door handle. I also think this should be a
recall out of their pocket.

wildbilltexas says:

It does suck. There should be a major class action lawsuit to make Chrysler
change out these door handles.I thought back in the early 2000’s that
Chrysler’s alliance with Daimler (Mercedes) would create better vehicles.
But they did it at the expense of cheap interiors full of plastic that
would be better suited for a Power Wheels toy. My 2001 Grand Cherokee
Laredo has a much nicer interior.

Tavis_aka_Kalik says:

Gonna have to buy a set of 4 also. Mines are FUBAR

AmiStrong88 says:

I thought I was the only one with this issue, both front and rear driver
side door are destroyed..im amazed at how easy it broke.

Marwan Alahmadieh says:

Thanks for the upload i am gonna change 3 of my handles. It is a shame
because youd think after all their financial trouble customer service would
be on top of their priorities

Marina Farra-Swiatek Barnett says:

I called Chrysler 1-800-521-9922 They said someone would call me back. They
did today. They sent an email to the Service Mgr where we got the Jeep. We
just took the car in and the Mgr called the adjuster. She told them to fix
my doors for $100.00 each. Much better than the $1,000 per door quote. 3
weeks to get the 4 door panels. Not bad, but it should never have happened
in the first place. By the way I only have 38,000 miles on my 2005 Jeep. If
you call, have your VIN number handy.

wildbilltexas says:

Thanks again for the info. I just bought one of the “Thrasher” kits from
“thebeerguys” on Ebay for $28 with shipping. The part arrived this weekend
and it looks exactly like your part. I’ll be installing it this week. I’m
not sure if I should be using Gorilla glue or Super Glue gel, I’ve always
had good luck using it to glue car interior plastic together in the past.

Liudmila Ilina says:

I have the same problem with my Jeep2005 HEMI. All 4 doors handle are
broken… I never had this kind of problem and i’m not sure where should I
call or just tell Jeep dealer? This should be recall and i’m happy to
confirm it.
