Question is how the owner allowed their car battery to run till totally flat? The battery sign should have come up much earlier which they ignored until this happened?

if you can't get in the car because the battery is dead.
that's a dumb design. they need to have an alternate way to get it going!
I'm glad my vehicles are a little older (early mid to late 2000s) so my vehicles have a decent amount of low tech. Works perfectly fine and has a door that can be unlocked with a key if need be.
Scotty is wrong on this. The key opens the door if the car battery is dead.

I don't think so. Electronic keys are far more secure than old style. Pretty dishonest of Scotty to judge a car based on this video of a wrecked+repaired car. Scotty is just an old geezer or perhaps he is trying to get back in good graces with Toyota.

Dumb design. Perhaps they should have a smaller secondary battery to service the essential stuff, just in case the primary battery fails. BTW, did you try disconnecting the bad battery before trying to start the car with that 6000A(!) thing?

Sadly it's not just Honda Scotty ! It's absolutely everything because of theft or safety or Taco Tuesdays? My old Fords in the back of the barn begrudgingly just run & drive when you give them a new battery an a splash of gas in a dry tank with a mechanical fuel pump an some wind in the old dry rotted bias ply tires. I know this very well now because I've done it over a dozen times the past 6 years as our new Fords just up an have a computer code seizure an do nothing because one out of 8 million ancillary parts failed. Then my wife an I go back in time 40 years an go about our day per normal. Our friends know exactly what's up because they play the same game an worst part of all is me just being kind with these baby faces techs at the dealers because I don't want to trigger them into hiding under my car instead of struggle bus trying to fix it. It's like we both already know they are over their heads even more than the ones that design an built it.
