DC Sports 4-2-1 Honda Civic Header Install | SOHC VTEC Sounds!

DC Sports 4-2-1 Honda Civic Header Install | SOHC VTEC Sounds!

A D-Series Honda Civic with an intake, exhaust, and header is the textbook example of cheap Civic fun! So today we install a DC Sports Ceramic One-Piece Header to see if the butt dyno notices a difference! VTEC Engaged!

The year is 2021 and we are still installing headers on D-Series Honda’s. Life is GOOD! haha! Installing a header on a Civic is nothing new to the world, but does it really make a difference? To find out I teamed up with DC Sports to install a One-Piece 4-2-1 Ceramic Header on my D16Y8. As a kid, I remember installing my first DC header on my D16Y7 (non vtec) along with intake an exhaust. However, it’s been so long that I forgot what that actually felt like. So this time around on my SOHC Vtec motor, I wanted to see if the addition of Vtec was more noticeable with a header. To my suprise, it did make a subtle (but noticeable) difference in power and sound. My Yonaka Catback exhaust produces a deeper growl and my crossover is much more noticeable!

Now I know many of you are wondering, Anthony why are you continuing to modify the D16 motor? Well, as much as I would love to swap the car TODAY, I’m trying to make the most of the motor while it’s in the car and make content that’s most relatable to YOU! In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy 40 mpg’s and plan out exactly what I want to do. All good things come with time right? Anyway, Thank you to DC Sports for letting me relive a bit of my youth and beautifying my engine bay!

4-2-1 or 4-1?! There is some slightly incorrect information when I’m explaining the header design. This particular header is a 4-2-1 with a one piece design versus the old model 2 piece style 4-2-1. There is ALSO a 4-1 design that wasn’t available at the time I ordered this one. I hate putting out incorrect information so just wanted to clear it up that this is a traditional 4-2-1. I guess my eyes and brain just weren’t working that day. Regardless, enjoy the video!

I was wondering which model DC Header is this and I don't think it got mentioned on the video? I am looking to put a DC header on a DOHC D16A8 engine that is mounted in a 91 Civic Si and trying to find out the closest model I can get. Any help would be great
