@truthnomad Hey, there is a hidden nut, I will check my manual here and
find out the exact size of the nut, but you have to get this nut off the
harness WITHOUT looking, its crazy ! and I believe this nut was behind some
wires as well, I peeked at it from the passenger side ABOVE windshield with
a flashlight.

Brady Stock says:

@truthnomad you need a socket, 8 mm i believe to the wiring harness. Look
at 35 seconds in my video, Lefty Loosey Righty Tighty

Brady Stock says:

6 hours …. Vehicle turned off to vehicle turned on time was approx. 6
hours. I did however plug my defroster into another similar looking plug,
which shorted out my dash lights upon battery reconnect. This plug fit and
I was looking upside down but wrong plug in point,,this one lit the dash
lights. ; tack on 1 hour extra to tear apart my dash to find the plug that
was not plugged into the right one, another black one.

@MrKevin2353 There is a reason, similar reason to why batteries are
designed to die, the market designs itself in a safe-system ensureing
service work or special tools. None of this is rocket science, it takes a
little reading and some confidence. You can do anything you set your mind
to. My problem MAY have been the fact I was using GREEN coolant rather the
Dexcool which is what is stock and how the system was designed.

kevin watts says:

Great engineering GM real user friendly.

james lewis says:

@bradydude21 I managed to get it disconnected and get the dash out. Thanks
for responding. However, now Im stuck at getting the heater module box out.
I have a 2000 Jimmy. It appears that the 97 had a much better/easier to
deal with layout.

snova1220j says:

how long did it take to do the complete install ?

Brady Stock says:

@Swimding hehe yes tunnelled 🙂 When I uploaded to youtube it shifted it 90
degrees, and to keep it HD I had to find out how to shift it another 90
degrees so I did and left it. The Origanal footage is full screen

Brady Stock says:

Out of 10… 4/10 for difficulty, goes much faster with a Cordless Drill.
Its very simple, just keep removing bolts n screws. One tricky part is the
wiring harness on the prisoners side a hidden bolt holds Harness, wires
must be spread + 7/8mm, by feel since it is behind dash, front Window
Looking in Supplemented Light. Lower the steering column very simple part.
If your not sure, take pics, label wires, connection points some fit other
connections. The hardest part is deciding to remove dash.

James Webster says:

what a freakn mess damn

william torres says:

how hard was it to take the dash out

Brady Stock says:

Fuses ok ? May have pinched wire, I would check out your keyed ignition and
pivot points like you say. Sounds like you need a new starter, no im
joking. Double check all plugs and connection points

buckcitycentral says:

yeah i checked the fuses. they’re ok. but i also noticed that when i turn
the key over that one of the three relays on the passenger side (middle one
to be exact) makes a clicking sound. you can hear the fuel pump kick on as
well. ive got it all apart and it seems as if nothing is pinched and
everything is plugged up. im thinking it may be the starter after all.
someone told me i could short it out to crank the vehicle and see if its ok.

ducklandwikeno says:

I hope that General Motors redesigned the new models for easy replament of
the heater core . Nice going gm for this lovely design you made . I hope my
heater core is not leaking Man Is That a jo to do . I think I will pay
someone for this work if it go’s bad if it leaks

buckcitycentral says:

just replaced heater core. got the dash back together. all harnesses
plugged in (i think)… i have power but starter isnt turning over. i didnt
take my dash completely out like you. im thinking i may have damaged some
starter wires from pivoting the dash on the steering column. let me know
what you think.

Tiffany Stancil says:

Dude I have a 96 Jimmy 4wd. I tell you I got a friend who was helping me.
It took us 7 hours between the 2 of us. The unfortunate thing was after we
replaced it we had the coolant system flushed. Well we had a leak in the
new heater core. Luck we paid $250 to have it done again by a green card
mechanic who spent 7 hours replacing it. I will pay for that. I won’t pay
$500 for a mechanic to do the job. Most pain in the you know what!
Depressing that we had to do it twice.

Nice video was helpful for my job on a 1996 s10 blazer…

suv101101 says:

@snova1220j it took me 3 days. im going to try to find my video i made of
my ’95 chevy blazer. about 10 hrs all together. from start to finish. i
used a cordless drill to make the job go quicker

james lewis says:

Im trying (and failing)to get that main wiring harness detatched. Can you
please tell me how you got it apart?

Swim Ding says:

Is that what you call narrow vision?
