In part two of this two part series, a kit of stainless steel lines is installed from the proportional controller to both rear wheels. Dorman kit 919-170 is shown being fitted into a 2000 Ford F150. The procedure will be similar on many Ford trucks and SUVs built from 1997-2003.
The kit looks bad. I'm bending and cutting my own.
Did your kit include front brake lines? My Dorman 919-170 kit was delivered today, but has a bunch of other lines in there. The only paperwork in the box says "GM Truck Stainless Steel Brake Line Kit" before straightening the long lines I want to be sure I have the right kit. The box has a sticker with 919-170, just not sure that is what is in the box. I did notice it missing one of the clips that holds the caliper hose to the bracket, hoping to reuse one from the old lines though.
Mitt dead has offered his 1994 XLT to me so I fix a bunch of things but of course the right rear has sprung a leak and probably going to have to use this video to chase down the leak to get it to my house. We live in the south so I doubt that there's near as much rust is on your vehicle any idea what the first culprit will be
Just finished my rust bucket 98 F150. All the lines were completely rusted and leaking everywhere. I replaced them all with the Dorman SS kit. Took about 2.5 hours.
Hey Sir. If you bend the shipping bend back to strait, will it makes the brakelines weaker?? Or is it made to handle that?
Would it have been easy to had a fish line when taking out the old to place the new?
Getting ready to do this to my 1992 tomorrow. Had to get the pre-bent line kit off eBay, at least they are made in USA and only 35 bucks. Good tips and well done video!
how to i buy the brake lines from dorman 919 170 i need
Right Rear first. It's further away from the master cylinder than the left. Very nice video and we needed it. I'm getting ready to do the same job on a 1998 F150.
Wow! Thanks for your video. Very good overview of the job. It's so nice now that you can buy the pre bent brake lines
Great job thanks for sharing
