Restoration of Extremely Yellow Broken Sega Saturn

Restoration of Extremely Yellow Broken Sega Saturn

In this episode I will restore and repair this extremely yellowed Sega Saturn Vintage console. The console is broken. It doesn’t read CD’s which is common with these retro consoles due to several reasons.

I'm fairly certain Nintendo and SEGA alone are the sole reason tri-screw manufacturers are even still a thing

Would you ever restore a broken Nintendo switch/switch lites? It would be interesting to see

It makes sense, but it's interesting how similar the layout inside is to a dreamcast. the power board looks almost identical!

The first Odd Tinkering video i came across, and I’ve been a fan ever since! Nowadays I like to imagine this video is Tails in his workshop fixing his company’s console

How long was the Saturn in the bath for? Have the same model that I need to restore but it isn’t near as yellow. Im thinking about going the stockpot/stove top method at 140-150
degrees using water and 40V (12%) from Sally’s. Currently testing with a yellowed white controller shell

Daniel Zanella says:

Funny to see your strategy to win the fight is the same as mine…hit the buttons like hell randomly…sometimes it works…

Nice restoration…I mean…Just another one…

Elias Amatonding says:

oh man i have 2 saturn like that .one is reading but need to tilt the console to read , and the other one is not reading and both are yellowed,
i wish i could fix it too, but im so careless to do it. it might get worser.

Oliver North says:

Here is a tip for people cleaning laser lenses. Try compressed air before you clean it with alcohol. Some lenses have film that can be damaged easily.

GenoX1987 says:

I noticed the blue Sega label on the front became grey after it was cleaned. Could have used a paint over on it to restore it.
