Saab – ABS Module replacement

Saab – ABS Module replacement

How to remove & replace the ABS module on a 1999-’02 + ’03 CV Saab 9-3. Vehicle shown is a 2001 Saab 9-3 SE w/ a rebuilt ABS module. Rebuild services I’ve used in the past:
http://modulemaster.com/rebuilds/abs-modules/
http://www.bba-reman.com

Process is similar for the Saab 9-5, except the fuse box is moved instead of the power steering reservoir.

Additional Information, per Saabs’ WIS:
One wheel sensor at each wheel generates an alternating current with a frequency which increases with increased speed. The ABS control module receiving the information regarding wheel speed continuously calculates wheel acceleration (speed increase), wheel retardation (speed decrease), vehicle speed and slipping of the wheels (degree of locking). If a wheel should be close to locking up during braking, the control module activates in/outlet valves as well as the return pump so that brake pressure for the wheel in question is regulated and maximum braking effect with necessary steering capacity is maintained.

Several other systems in the car also need data on the vehicle’s road speed. The MIU receives a signal, via a lead connected to the rear left wheel-speed sensor, which it then converts to km/h, a computation that includes a pre-programmed correction for tire size. Because the MIU is connected to a bus, all the other control modules connected to the bus are able to share the RL wheel-speed and milometer (odometer) data.

The control module continuously monitors its own internal operation as well as the constituent components in the system. In the event of a fault, a diagnostic trouble code will be generated and the ABS system disconnected at the same time as the ABS lamp, the brake fluid warning lamp and the central warning lamp come on.

WARNING. BBA Reman in the UNITED KINGDOM (whom i did previously use and respect alot in the past) went into liquidation last year November 6th 2019. However the website is still misleadingly live. The Phone number is still misleadingly live (and when answered the staff are happy to allow you to think you are talking to BBA when in fact the company you are speaking to is BLACK BOX Electronics who also still use the BBA payment machines and their BBA UPS account for collections & deliveries.) Black box was formed by the uk director of the Liquidated BBA Reman uk Mr Swan on the 7th of November 2019. So far the "new" company (misleadingly operates from the same BBA premise, have a very poor workmanship standard and after sale customer service, Just search the comments from customers on google forums. If you are thinking of using BBA OR Black Box save yourself time and trouble by keeping your non functional part in a box under your bed for 5 to 8 months & also instead just set fire to £100 plus out of your own pocket. the result will be the same but less stressful for you.

Hey! Nice video…
Can you please help me know whether why do we have those 6 brakes lines in the abs module?
Where do they connect.?
And why only 6?

If I could afford a set from a 900 I think that would look epic.

Hi Ross. We recently purchased a cheap '99 9-3. It's getting some TLC ready to return to road worthiness. I'm not upset about pouring $2k into it, tidy as, drives very nicely, only done 103,000km. My issue is that it has ugly aftermarket alloy wheels. Someone locally is dismantling a '04 9-5. Do you know if the factory alloy wheels from that car will fit ours?
