💡 Top tip: when the old belt is off, clean the pulleys with brake cleaner or alcohol.
The specified service interval for the belt is 60,000 miles OR 4 years.
💡 Top tip: I recommend you inspect the belt each time you change the engine oil and replace the belt if there are any signs of splitting or cracking irrespective of mileage.

Thanks for all the great content! I’ve got the 2008 2.8 aero fwd. I’ve been reading some posts stating that I have to remove engine mounts to replace the serp belt. Do you have any knowledge of this? Also when I accelerate hard I get a bit of sputtering. Replaced coils and plugs. Could it be the turbo or pcv valve. Thanks you!

Doug Gray says:

Life saver, thanks for this, great vids.

novadose1975 says:

Did mine a very similar way except with a length of wood and just pushed up on the bottom of the tensioner. Doing it on a pit garage made it a bit more difficult as your shoulder becomes the jack but worked a treat.

Iman Wan says:

Hi, did you change the timing chain cover gasket? I see you have some oil mark at the bottom corner on the cover? I was planning to replace the belt last week and I found out there is leaking oil at the same spot.

Hussain Alajmi says:

easy way thanks

Ullah Vai says:

I really love all of your cool technic.
Thanks for sharing the video with us 🙂

Aero says:

Great job as always.
Cyd I have asked you on Pcv valve video, you didnt see my question, so I will ask you again here…
On some forums people say that it is safe to block inlet pcv hole( saab, cobalt forums), it stops oil getting in manifold and loosing oil and boost… Adding oil catch can on turbo side baffle helps too. Do you think it is safe to do that?

Hey Cyclone Cyd, omg wish you had released this video a week ago… my serpentine belt snapped while driving up the suffolk coast around 4pm, RAC tried to fit a belt he had in the back of his van but could not release the tensioner to do so… ended up being towed back to essex and forking out £100 for a local garage to fit it… just my luck… never mind… thanks again for all your videos, they are always informative and straight to the point… keep the Saabath dream alive..

Sangyub Oh says:

Thanks for excellent video!!!
I will try to replace it.
Have a nice weekend!
