Porsche 911 Spark Plug & Ignition Coil Replacement DIY (2013-2016 Porsche 991.1 Carrera, S, 4S, GTS)

►As with previous water-cooled 911s, reaching the spark plugs and ignition coils on a 991 Carrera can be a bit of a challenge. Regardless, replacing your plugs and coils is a DIY job you can handle at home in the driveway. Porsche recommends a 40,000-mile replacement interval for the spark plugs; the coils are likely to make it through two sets of plugs before needing replacement.

The ignition coils and spark plugs work in tandem to ignite the fuel-air mixture in each cylinder, creating the combustion that produces engine power. Any damage to the plug or coil results in weakened combustion, reducing power and fuel economy. Thankfully, a simple plug and coil replacement will restore that power.

In this video, Rusty Herten, FCP Euro’s In-House Technician, replaces the spark plugs and ignition coils in a Porsche 991.1 Carrera.
