Porsche 911 997 Water Pump & Thermostat Replacement DIY (2005-2012 Porsche Carrera, S, 4S, Targa)

Porsche 911 997 Water Pump & Thermostat Replacement DIY (2005-2012 Porsche Carrera, S, 4S, Targa)

►The water pump and thermostat on a Porsche 997 need to be replaced fairly regularly. Replacement should be done every 45,000-60,000-miles or every four to five years.

As everything inside the Porsche 997 engine bay is tightly packaged, it requires the removal of quite a few components to access the water pump and thermostat. However, even though it requires many steps, it’s not exactly a difficult job and is something that you can do in your garage or driveway at home rather than paying the dealer or an independent Porsche shop.

Follow along as Michael Hidalgo, FCP Euro’s ace DIY mechanic demonstrates how to replace the water pump and thermostat on this Porsche 997 911.

Another great video .. Just a correction on the title as this video is for a 997.2 model 911's with the direct injection MA1 engine 2009-2012

I liked this video…very well done and narrated.
More like this would be nice!

Porsche takes the engine out to work on it.

cabottaxi says:

Great detailed video on how to carry out this job . I think I would only carry out this job if I had a large well lit garage to do it . Not sure if I’d attempt this at the side of the road or on the driveway.

Latin man says:

Glad that's not my car I don't know if I have the patience to go through all that and that's poor engineering
