Hi, What is the work? How can we understand the need to change?
Thanks

lightdark101 says:

I recommend changing all oxygen senors Pre- cat and post-cat and cleaning your Mass Air Flow Sensor with Mass Air Flow spay that you can find in your local parts store to eliminate any misreading issues.

Next inspect your intake for cracks by dismantling the intake slightly bending and flexing to look for any tiny cracks and also make sure everything is secure and tight back on.

Also check your gas cap.. like the o-ring or replace it with a new OEM cap

Let me know if it still comes up or not!

Eduardo Linares says:

I just had the valve cover gasket and spark plugs change. I also did a oil change. This is for a 97 328i after driving for a few miles those two codes came up. Any idea why guys?

Ryan Corneliusen says:

BTW, thanks for the vids. I replaced the lower intake boot by watching one of them. Next is the 02’s.

Ryan Corneliusen says:

I see you spent $70+ on intake boots. I bought a genuine lower boot for $17 shipped. The upper I didn’t need but was same price. The reason you’re on “budget restrains” is because you go to the dealer for your parts, and that’ll drain you.

Anyway, I replaced the boot and my whistling accelerator went away but the stuttering and 02 codes remained. Bought all 4 sensors. They are specific to the cylinders, 1-3 and 4-6. I really hope I don’t have to replace the CCV.

thanks for making this vid

recently got a p044 on my 02/330i/ ccv valve? ive got inspection coming up..when the weather gets around 50′ here in tx the service engine light wont turn on,. but when it gets warmer it turns on the service engine soon light..?? like your videosBTW..

alipate takau says:

i heard you have to clear the adaptation with programmes like carsoft to clear the code and so your car readapts to new parts such as 02 sensor, did you get rid of the code? write back if you get a chance, im unlucky i got a 328i 1998 e46 and all my 02 sensor under the car and i got to splice the wires on my new 02 sensor cause they too short.

Julio Pinto says:

@lightdark just to confirm you only swapped out the O2 sensor behind the CAT not both ? Is that why the error came back on?

DanBakery says:

How much would a Lambda Socket be?

onDishez says:

Did this cause the ses light ?

sr kseries says:

In addition, to what might be causing this, theres Catalytic Converter Cleaner (16 oz.) at amazon. This is to my experience.

sr kseries says:

Sometimes is the Catalytic Converter gases are on the banks. Also, known ass back pressure.

gatorade026 says:

Damn this vid was waayyyy too long.

Joe Cable says:

this is what my o2 sensors are called.Upstream oxygen sensors — wide band technology. Mine is not the m56 it is a m54 looks just like your engine

Joe Cable says:

Our motors look the same mine is 2003 325I. However my o2 sensor cable is like foot half long and its plug in on top not on the side. And the price is about $100 bucks more than the sensor in your car. Good video

@lightdark101!hello …I’ve been driving for 200 miles now and the engine light has not go off yet but i see my gas mileage is improving than before so if I have some time I’m gona let d mechanic turn d light off …

lightdark101 says:

Awesome! Let me know what happens at the end if it goes away or not

9011combo says:

@lightdark101,hello ! I just check my o2 sensor and I discovered that the sensor is very loose , actually i can wiggle it side to side easily. So i pulled it out, blow it with some high presure air and i put back in. Hopefully its not a bad sensor. Jus wana let u know …

9011combo says:

Thank u so much !!!! I just disconnect my battery earlier so I can work on it Sunday moning ..

lightdark101 says:

It’s going to a long trial and error path. You can take it in to a shop just for diagnosed Prefer to anyone who you feel comfortable and also rely on.. and also pricing. just to get what’s the point and also what is wrong with the car.. And from then on you can do it yourself… based on what the problem is…

Just make sure you get a printout of the cost of what it would take if they repaired it.. So they cant charge or raise the price on you when you bring it back to them.. last resort only

9011combo says:

Thank u a gain, Ur informations is very helpfull . I will try to look fo any bad signs if there is any

lightdark101 says:

Depends… Mine end up being the secondary air pump or valve failing and the holes in the intake tubes.. and think that’s what caused the problem for me… others its the cyclone separator and sings of that is oil stains under the intake manifold or around the dipsick area.. and others is cause by failing MAF

9011combo says:

I bought the universal one and i was wondering ..is gona b a problems..my car has same problem as yours except its 08/528xi ..got d same engine

lightdark101 says:

Yes… it can go off by itself….You could reset it with a OBD reader…. Unplugging your battery over night trick…. but if your going to let the light go off by itself it and take a while

9011combo says:

Thank u for a good video …does the light goes off by itself or do u have to turn it off after installation

MrAyajan says:

sick video b, thank u so much

lightdark101 says:

No problem… One way is also swapping out a different MAF.. clearing the codes.. and see if it comes up… If it comes up again, then it’s not the MAF… Something else is causing the code… Good luck!

LAXPro271 says:

Currently the intake is out and am replacing some old tubes and possibly the fuel lines (predicting future event). The car did stutter before going idle, so the MAF is probably the biggest reason. But, until I’m ready I’ll check out everything else and then work my way to cleaning it. Hopefully the cleaning should do something. If not, well it’ll be expensive. Thank you!

lightdark101 says:

also listen for whistle sounds from the intake manifold.. that gives it away.. Sorry for the texting style language and spelling, i try to fit as many words i can… but i can’t
