I check the depth of the Moroso Oil Pickup on the Melling Oil Pump. I then install the Howards Cams Hydraulic Roller Camshaft in the Olds 455 engine.

Enjoying your videos, recently subscribed. Just wondering what hp/torque are you aiming for?
Great video Hutch. Still learning a bunch about these Olds V8s. My 455 was rebuilt by the previous owner and seems to run great. But when I replaced my mechanical fuel pump I stuck a inspection camera in the opening to look around and didn't see an oil slinger installed. Is this something I should be concerned about?
My early engine builds I only used the timing marks. I always degree my performance now.
what are the cam specs?
By no means am I cutting you down but I remember reading that the fuel pump eccentric must be used to help aid in holding the cam bolt in place more so than just the pin otherwise catastrophic failure can result also when you took the bolt to torque it made a terrible noise I'd also check the camshafts end play with the oil pump shaft and distributor installed something no one does I just don't want see you roster a motor as I am a OLDSMOBILE MAN AS WELL peace and much respect to you and I'll keep hunting for where I found my info
