Olds 455 Build Part-9 Edelbrock RPM Heads and Rocker Arm Geometry!! 1987 Olds 442: Video 72

I install the Edelbrock RPM heads on the Olds 455. I paint the ARP Bolt heads to simulate the stainless steel look. I go over how I calculate rocker arm geometry with the use of a Harland Sharp rocker.

i know of people who reuse them fine but that's for their own vehicle and they know the risks. I do not know of anyone who would recommend it as being correct or safe to do unless you don't mind redoing the headgasket

I'm about to set up the same rockers. Going to use a cross line laser to set the 90 degree starting point.

Ben N says:

Another question for you Hutch, I'm using hydraulic lifters, do they need to be pumped up with oil to measure pushrod length ?

Danny Thayer says:

Looks like pontiac blue wtf

Fast Eddie says:

my bad I forgot you are using adjustable rockers.

Fast Eddie says:

I see you did not add any preload on pushrod for lifter preload.

Ben N says:

Another question for you Hutch, would that pushrod checking tool be correct for stock rockers as well? I see summit sell many different length checkers.

Davey Elmer says:

I believe you want 90 degree rocker to valve angle at half lift …. not closed position??

Ben N says:

another good video in the series, thanks.

john dillinger says:

you better get those heads checked by a machine shop before installing.
lots of discrepancies have been found in specs
