Cleaning up the 1983 Olds Cutlass Cruiser

Nothing special or unique….1983 Cutlass wagon with Buick 231 V6, TH250 trans and 7.5″ rear. I have to issue a correction about the trans: The “3-speed that…

I’m sure unobservant residents wouldn’t have even noticed you traded the
red station wagon for another red station wagon.

That truck seems to be one problem after another..

Nice Olds Wagon

SuperFIFTHGEAR says:

Glad your intending to keep everything stock. Looks like a nice big
American cruiser.
Not a fan of the afternarket radio in older cars. Please keep this car.
That Volvo was nice, but yeah, financially it was a pit. I’ve always
thought of Volvo to be reliable, but that’s now changed. Well, for the
newer ones, still like the old ones though

archifxllc says:

That thing is just freaking awesome and it was made the year I was born 😉
MUCH better than that stupid ass Volvo. I hear the newer VW’s are the same
way these days! GREAT FIND!

Always liked G bodies as well. But my hopes of owning one are constantly
dwindling away. All the ones for sale here are some home boys hoopie, or
beat up incomplete highschoolers dream cars. Id settle for a trailer park
special to clean up as long as it was straight and original.

Skyland.. Oh my.. I grew up with them. My grandparents had several Olds
and they where always expensive as a kid according to grandpa and they
still are , so he’d either go to AnTon in Canton (no longer around) or
Mitchell Motors in Norcross, GA (another Isuzu/Olds Dealer). Skyland sells
Mercedes too. Growing up Skyland had M-B, Olds, Jeep and Mazda at first.
Then Chrysler/Plymouth in 1997 (When Liberty C-P on tunnel road closed),
Then Deal Motor Cars sold off Isuzu and then Mitusbishi (They had bought
out another dealer in the mid 80’s that sold
Saab/VW/Audi/Porsche/Isuzu/Mitsubishi. Yugo was the Ford Dealer in Canton
and Dihatsu was the local Toyota Dealer

Rust is common on some cars coming from Asheville as a heads up. They do
salt the roads there and depending on how long it was around there, its
plausable. I had a ranger that rusted in weird places that was bought new
and always lived in Asheville…

we had a 1986 olds custom cruiser with the 307 olds in it.. had the
woodgrained sides and all.. we got it for free in 1997 and I drove it all
through high school.. we finally sold it in 2011 for $1500 passed
emissions, even the air conditioning worked.. we got it off original
owner.. had 350k miles on it when we got rid of it.. never had the engine
or trans rebuilt.. it had the rough running cold start symptom but smoothed
out and ran great after a min or two.. everyone said they were huge pieces
of crap but we never had a single problem with it

Cactus Bob says:

you love them i hate them !!! this was one of the cars that made toyota and
honda household words
when these first came out and someone told me “did you know the rear
windows don’t roll down ?” i thought they where kidding ! “who would make a
4 dr car that the rear windows would be fixed in place ???? GM would that’s
who !
the carbs on these cars where set so lean from the factory that on cold
mornings theses would stall and stall unless you feathered the gas until
they warmed up
add a bad choke pull-off and you had a rough running mess
other fun things : tilt wheel that need to be taken apart and lock-tight
all the screws in it every so often , spongy brakes , poor handling in
general , a dashboard that will put you to sleep if your not careful ,
vacuum leaks , headliners that fall down , rust , yes rust even on Arizona
cars ! , power antenna that would break and run and run and run and run , i
guess it was better than the the other one “the windshield antenna ” where
you would turn a corner and loose the station . the one thing i can give GM
credit for was when they switched over to TBI , this fixed so much of the
running problems and the GM ,TBI was a great system with next to no
problems

coveteran says:

Nice! Thanks for posting! I picked up an 84 Parisienne (305) off of
craigslist from a second owner that couldn’t get it to pass emissions. $500
and some vacuum lines and have been driving her every day to work (106
miles round trip). These are my favorite cars. My 81 Electra (307) was my
daily driver but she lost a head gasket a few weeks ago, just waiting for
warmer weather to fix her.

Blazer02LS says:

Nice ride, even like the color..
I saw a Sierra wagon a couple weeks ago that was completely rust free. That
was a shock for NY.. It had all the options including the rear facing 3rd
seat.
I’d like to find a wagon like yours. Then I’d stick the stage 2, 231 turbo
I have in the shed.

kerobinsonii says:

I’ll tell ya how to put a Chevy 350 in one! LOL !
Nice car and I know you will get it running. Peace.

richthecardude94 says:
