How to Replace Intake Valve Timing Control Solenoid Valves on A Nissan Xterra VVT

This video demonstrate the removal and replacement of the Intake Valve Timing Control Solenoid Valve. I am demonstrating on a 2005 Nissan Xterra but this could be used for any Nissan with the matching motor such as the Frontier, X-Trail, Navara, and some Armadas.

If you are getting codes P1111 or P1136 this could be what’s causing the problems. The Nissan Product number for the gaskets is 23797-ZA000.

Thanks so much for making this video. I don't barely know anything about cars but I wasn't about to spend the money to let the shop fix it. This video was very clear to understand and my car is running like new! Thanks to all the YouTube mechanics!

Do you need to reprogram the engine computer. Or the timing? Just curious.

Johnathon Staggs says:

How did you know to use 8 ft pounds of torque, mine keep leaking and that much torque doesn't seem to be enough and I can't find anything anywhere on the torque specs

Hi, Nissan diagnosed my 2010 Murano with Bank 1 Selonoid valve error. Is it this same valve?

Trevor Lee Anderson says:

Could these valves or solenoids cause a knocking/tapping sound on my 2013 Frontier V6 (128K miles)? Thanks!

Ahmad Ghosheh says:

Done it while doing the plugs and valve cover gasket, had to remove it anyway so I put 2 new ones, solenoids and gaskets.

Travis Scheuermann says:

Is the one on passenger side bank 1?

I really wanna make sure I order the right part.

Thanks for the great videos! Somehow I set my torque wrench to 8lbs and it snapped the bolts! Not sure what happened.. maybe torque wrench bad, bolts old, or oil on bolts. But luckily the bolt snapped and was still protruding outside the screw-hole to unscrew it.

Rigo Miranda says:

I replace the timing solenoid on my 2003 Nissan Altima , and the check engine light came on again ,,little help please …

Michael Morell says:

Why didn't you remove the solonoid from the housing and clean it & the screens too?. It's only 1 bolt

chase blankenship says:

Ry, had a P0021 error code pop up after a rough start up. The dealership says my timing chain is worn and needs replacing.I’ve always kept up with my 2011 Xterra maintenance, so I don’t see how a car with less than 100k would need a new timing chain. Do you think the VVT solenoid would trigger a misfire code and cause the idle to seem rough or even weak?

Sroor9001 says:
