Possibly a locked up parking brake cable.

echokiloecho says:

A better way to deal with the parking-brake line is not to touch it,
instead remove a third bolt on the lower rear part attached to the caliper.
This third bolt is same size as caliper bolts. I broke a plastic neck on
the parking brake line trying to remove the parking-brake clip. You won’t
risk braking the plastic neck piece removing the third bolt instead. 3
bolts off = caliper clears off. it’s a 20 min job each side. Great Video as
always pmohr.

Robert Dicks says:

the way you are supposed to compress the calliper is you are supposed to
use the tool called the cube it can be bought off any tool truck

madden88 says:

the cube is not a cheap way out its actually very econimical who want a
tool set when you can easily get 6 in 1 cmon man lets work smart not hard

boredmder says:

@lilridda21 The bolts thread into the torque member itself, which makes it
easy to remove even if you do break a bolt off. If the bolt doesn’t break
off flush, you can still remove it by pulling it out along with the rotor
after removing the other bolt.

I have a question. I have a problem on my 4th gen. The rear driver side
brake rubs on rotor i don’t know why. I changed the caliper and line and it
still won’t release. Can you please help

boredmder says:

@79wobbie The cube isn’t the ‘proper’ way, really. There are tool sets
designed specifically for this sort of thing, the cube is just a cheap way
to handle most rear calipers. And I don’t know why you’d spend the money
for a cube on a tool truck when it can be bought at HF, Sears, etc for a
few bucks. I spend my fair share with SO and Cornwell, but I’d never get a
cube from them.

Moses E says:

hi i snapped one of toque member bolts…how do i get the bracket out now?
is there threads on the ears where the braket bolts up to? if you could
respond to this that would be very nice thank you

boredmder says:

Cheap == economical, in this case. Be aware though, the cube will not work
on all rear calipers, I’ve had trouble with it being completely wrong for
most Fords, and will require some…’customization’ for work with VWs.

Thanks, updated.
