The video was helpful but my aftermarket I unit still won’t turn on. It
wired up correctly but no power. There is one additional factory plug left
but there’s no where to plug it on the aftermarket wiring harness. What am
I missing?

Craig P says:

Thank you, my pioneer deck just died and no one in my town does installs.
Didn’t wan’t to wreck anything, but this looks easy, will try this weekend.

Alex Svercunov says:

Thanks a lot, the video was very helpful

AfrikanInked says:

What kind of harness did u use..regular or premiun sound? I have the same
setup

tausif304 says:

I had single din, but generally outlander has empty slot underneath stereo,
so I guess it should be fine to install double din system.

shadowm3ld says:

Thanks for your video – it’s very helpful! As silvabelz wrote, did you have
to cut any wires, or did you just plug them in to your new unit and
install? Thanks again!

tausif304 says:

HI Bridgebolt51, I think that’s how its engine is designed. Even after
turning off ignition and talking out keys headlights and fan keeps running
for 30sec or so and than it switch off. I hope you meant same thing.

Anders Nordberg says:

Hi, I am just about to buy an Outlander and am wondering if a stereo of
double-din size will fit? (one who has double height of the one you
installed in the video). If not – What is limiting the space?

AfrikanInked says:

Can u fit a double din system in that? I have an 03 and hate flip outs..

bridgebolt51 says:

my headlights and a/c started staying on without the keys in ignition..
any idea?

AfrikanInked says:

Yes i was just thinking of removing the bottom pocket it has screws in back
and the space should be enough for a double din

Aleksei Petrovski says:

thanks! this video helped me

tausif304 says:

I checked and chassis size of my radio which I installed is 178 x 161 x 50
(W x D x H), hope this would answer your question.

bridgebolt51 says:

no its not.. i been using mine for 6 yrs now… its very unusual even
sunroof open even there is no key for more than 30mins.. i notice that
after running for 15 mins a/c stop cooling then the light will be on after
removing the key…

nish3488 says:

Thanks tausif!! I have 03 outlander, and I am planning on changing the
radio. I wanted to know if you had to buy any extra wiring harness for this
after market stereo or did you have to cut any of the existing wires and
solder them back.

jepogi says:

Thanks for this information….just what i needed. Tom will change my head
unit.

tausif304 says:

Hey Nish3488, yes I had to buy after market harness kit and connected
cables to harness from car, its wasn’t that long of process. And generally
when you buy harness kit it has instruction to connect by color so
basically you are matching to color as instructed and good to go.

ierdna31 says:

thank you, very helpful …

Phoenix_100 says:

NIce, definitely helpful, thx for taking the time.

silvabelz says:

This video shows how to open up the dashboard but doesn’t show anything
about wiring the radio up. Can’t tell from this if you cut into the factory
harness and hard-wired it or if you used a harness kit like they provide
from Crutchfield when you buy a unit from them. Also, did you use the
factory brackets to mount the unit or the ones that came with your Alpine
head unit? This video left me with questions.

tausif304 says:

HI Singlus, I did not cut any wires but all I did was I bought harness kit
for my perticualr car and joined it with radios’s wires, I have added link
to video how to connect Harness in video discription please check it. Let
me know if you have any more questions.

Dan Vo says:

Try crutchfield . com on Outfit My Car

tausif304 says:

I’m glade it was helpful for you.

Pepe Herman says:

Thanks a lot your video was very very helpful …..

ierdna31 says:

Hi, I would like to ask you what are the sizes of the new radio that you
install it? Because i want to buy one with Size: 184 x 175 x 58mm, and I
don’t know if it will fit. Thank you.

tausif304 says:

@ierdna31 Thanks for your input.

tausif304 says:

HI Silvabelz, sorry for late response. As I mentioned in video that I’m
doing video for how to open it and there is many more video for how to
connect harness kit of car. I can not put link in comment for that video so
I have added that link on how to wire harness kit in video description. Let
me know if you have any more question.

tausif304 says:

Hi AfrikanInked I used regular harness, and you can try double din because
I just needed single din and that’s what I installed. Hope this answers
your both questions.

ierdna31 says:

it’s ok…

Eduardo Altieri says:

thank you from brazil 🙂

F. Moreno says:

thank you! just curious im trying to install an aftermarket radio too. did
you just buy another harness and installed it with the new one? or did you
cut the wires and wired it to the stereos harness?

loubang1784 says:

Thank you bud I just got a radio for my wife and did not know how to take
it out thank you for your time
