Wish you had an overview of tools and such in the description 🙁
I have a 2005 with 269,000 miles, so I won't complain. Shortly, I'm going to attempt to change the alternately per this helpful video. I'm also going to try some of the tips in the comments. I'll let you guys know if I succeed. Thanks.
Not taking anything away from this video or the mechanic, but I just replaced the alternator on my 2006 Five Hundred without dropping the sub-frame. The Ford service procedure doesn't call for dropping the sub-frame. Do everything seen in this video except dropping the frame part. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, this will get the tie-rod end out of the way and allow more room to get the alternator out. Take your time and find the right angle. The alternator pulley was facing up when I took it out and put it back in. Give it a try, you can always drop the frame if you think you need to.
I've changed mine and gotten it out without lowering the frame..
Thanks just got the thing out at work thanks to your video
I would take the tie rod end loose lower joint thru bolt or nut out and just get that cv axle out of the way. Thanks for sharing a different option.
