Mercury SmartCraft Connect install on 2025 Lund Impact 1775 XS Boat and Garmin 106SV Chartplotter

UPDATE: 05-11-25: After I completed my install and was getting some data on my Garmin but incorrect motor trim data, I was not able to fully trouble shoot the issue and was concerned that the Mercury analog to digital signal was not correctly calibrated. After a lengthy trouble shoot by my dealer, then determined my system did not need the 859318T1 terminator as the gateway has one built in. Please confirm this on your end if needed or not.

Installation parts list and high level summary of instructions on how to install the Mercury SmartCraft Connect on 2025 Lund Impact 1775 XS and Garmin 106SV. Two corrections from what was stated on the video:
– It was stated that the SmartCraft connect designed to be installed under the cowl is only able to connect via blue tooth which is not correct as it also can connect to the Garmin via a NMEA cable but limits you future expansion capabilities of adding other options. That is why I preferred to install the model under the helm so if I want to install other components like the troll control button I can do that).
– It was stated that the SmartCraft connect gets its power from the NMEA T-Connector/12 volt 010-11079-00 Garmin cable but that was stated in error as the SmartCraft connect gets its power from the CAN line via the engine (i.e. the SmartCraft can function when the ignition is on but not connected via the NMEA backbone).

SmartCraft Connect System Parts List
1. Mercury SmartConnect Single Engine Under Helm Gateway – 8M0173694
2. Mercury SmartConnect Junction Box – 8M0165557
3. Mercury SmartConnect Terminator – 859318T1 (Check to see if your gateway has one built in, according to my dealer my gateway had a built in one and this was not required which was the root cause of my motor trim signal not being correct).
4. Mercury Cable ASSY Adapter Female-Female 8M0207791 (Not shown on diagram but required for me to connect the manual gauges on the helm to the Junction Box since both of these were male connector ends and I needed a Female to Female to complete the connection)
5. Mercury 84-8M0138593 CAN Data Harness 3 foot (Pending your setup and mounting location of your Junction box you may want something longer than a 3′ extension). This is not on the diagram but is similar to the 84-879981T20
6. Garmin NMEA 2000 Power Cable 320-00389-00 / 010-11079-00
7. Garmin NMEA 2000 Multi-Port T-Connector 010-11078-01
8. Garmin NMEA 2000 Backbone/Drop Cable 6′ 2m 010-11076-00
9. Regatta Processing NMEA 2000 (N2k) Pair Male/Female Resistor Terminators. Terminating kit for Lowrance Simrad B&G Navico & Garmin Networks (Not shown on the diagram but are required to be added to the 010-11078-01 T-Connector)

Great video! Seems like info on this is difficult to find and mercury seems to purposely make info scarce for diyers.

There are a couple different smart craft connect monitors. Will the under the helm one work with you install? Called mercury and they said I needed the 700$ smart craft unit.

Super good video!

Great info. I going to install this system I just got a 2019 Mercury 115hp PRO SX. Only difference is I have a Raymarine Axiom and Nema2000 communication set up instead of the Garmin system. Yea I think it would be clumsy to open the phone app connect to the motor then connect the phone to the display and hope your phone doesn't die at some point or have a power port and place to plug in and a holder for the phone. I think that would be a mess in the long run. Like you I just want to just start the motor and the display comes on and it shows the motor information. Done and simple. It worth the money never having to worrier about it Thanks again for the info

You talk too damn much get to the point

@StockMarketinator says:

Is there a reason you didn’t use the “mobile” version which connects to your Garmin instead of all the wiring / extras?

@Trifreak88 says:

Hello! Is the bluetooth connection to the Mercury Marine app working too? Or only at the mobile version of the device?

Great video. Stumbling through a similar install myself and hoping this helps. Out of curiosity did you try to connected your mercury cable directly to the smart craft connect without the hub or terminator? If so did everything work minus your manual gauges or was that required regaurdless with the terminator? Also on the app you moved to that they suggested was that mercury marine or the smart craft manager?

@TheBronDancing says:

Thank you a quick question, does the mercury junction box need only one terminator. So if you use two ports and one terminator, there is an open port with nothing connected….

Well done….
