I bought mine from ebay last time, but I made sure they were a decent make. I think they were Duracell and cost about £1 each.
In comparison you can get a card with about 50 various CR batteries on it for a £1

No, you just replace the battery and it should work fine ;-)

Thank you. A wonderful learning for me. May I ask a question - after replacing the battery, do I need to do any kind of reset of the key, or will it just work without any further processes?

This is the best information I’ve ever found on the internet!!! I could see that the top of the key should come apart, but couldn’t work out how to get it apart! You are brilliant and a very generous person to take the time to make the video clip! Thank you sooo very much!!

ultimatehandyman says:

It was a few years back, but think it was about £160

joeylupp says:

If you don’t mind me asking… how much was the new key?

ultimatehandyman says:

When the key in my van did this I had to buy a new key.
I had to take the log book to the main Mercedes garage and they ordered me a new key for the next day.
