How to Change a Mazda 3 2010 and newer Cabin Air Filter

The dealer wanted around $80 to do this. They told me it was very difficult. I figured it out in 5 minutes. Hopefully you’ll be able to benefit from this. Yo…

Usually, the top one stays up there long enough to slide the second one in,
but if not I have not had a hard time holding the top one. THE MOST
IMPORTANT THING IS TO TAKE NOTE AS TO THE ORDER AND DIRECTION YOU TAKE THE
OLD ONES OUT. They can be backwards, and up-side-down, and there’s only one
right way.

businessmanart says:

It’s difficult getting it back in (even when follow same order) cuz the
first one keeps dropping down when I try and get the second one in below.

2007 Mazda 3 is much more painful. You have it easy.

Thanks for the video, it was clearer than the other one I watched and
helpful to know they are stacked. Piece of cake and saved me time and about
$75 buying and installing on my own!

Thanks for the video, man. I had the filters out in one minute, and it took
maybe 2-3 to get everything back in, and that was going slow because I was
scared of breaking a clip or something. I have 48000 km on mine and it had
never been done, but I still just used some compressed air and a vacuum to
clean the filter rather than change it. total time with meticulous cleaning
of filter still well under 10 minutes. Got a price of $90 from a Calgary
Mazda dealer. Craziness.

Thanks for the great video, sad i had no idea my car even has the cabin air
filter although i haven’t gone out there and actually look because i
figured with mine being a base model it wouldn’t have this but dam thats
awsome. I’m gonna go look into changing it because with over 36K on it it
needs to be changed as well as the transmission oil.

YunqueofKnowledge says:

Yes, you need replace both filters. When you buy the filters, it should
come with both. The only reason the filter is divided into two parts is
because it wouldn’t fit through the opening to replace them. Careful, as I
said in the video, You have to be careful and mindful how you take them out
because they have to go back in, in the same order. It is very easy if you
do it in the same direction mindful of the grooves. The project should take
no more than 5 minutes if you do it correctly.

If found this video last night. Purchased my new cabin filters this
morning. It took about 5 minutes! Mazda dealer wanted lots of $ to replace
it, and they said it was an all day job. Crazy. Thanks for posting this
video-it saved me a ton of time and some 4!!!! And it was really easy, and
I had to trouble putting the new filters back in! Wooooo!

Irvin Ramirez says:

its hard to put them back again 🙁

Rick A says:

Correction-I had no trouble putting the new filters back in, and it save me
$ doing it myself!
