Continuing to work on my salvage Ferrari 430 Scuderia, we needed to pull off the 12 year old PPF that had turned yellow. A lot of patience and some help from a steamer, and it actually came off pretty well. Thankfully no paint was harmed in the making of this video.

#430scuderia #diy #ppf
I just had 10 year old PPF removed on my Porsche. According to the shop it was a nightmare. Best $500 I've spent.
That white is gorgeous
Nice video.
Good work…tedious but rewarding. I just don't know what to think about PPF. It seems great at the start but the rate of deterioration and wear is noticeable.
Anyway…..great video and effort. Looking better every day.
Dan, look at it this way, you are getting paid because having someone else do it would cost $$$$$$$$$.
I would have let it sit in the hot sun for a few hours first
Prayers sent!
Nice! Good job on getting zero clear coat lift.
You will earn your money when you sell the Scuderia.
You're probably right that it's the clear coat that's become yellow. The color coat has been protected from UV to some degree. I've done DIY paint work on numerous cars with excellent results(not just YouTuber results). I would color sand first it starting with either 600 grit or 1000 grit wet sandpaper, and lots of water for a lubricant. You will probably see a yellowish slurry come off. I would not sand the color coat. If you need to repair the color coat, leave that to the pro's. Good Luck!
Looks so much better! BTW is that the former DDE Scud?
I have been waiting for this video and it looks like it went shockingly well. The yellowing is probably the repaint off gassing and getting trapped under the ppf. I had that happen once 6 months after a repaint and under a clear plastic car cover.
The correct theory would be called thermodynamics and the black mirrors just cook the ppf more than the white paint.
Why do I get the feeling that it was a 3M film……
Greetings Dan,
Who makes the chair with casters you’re using? That certainly would save my back, etc…
As always, great content. Thanks! John
