Custom install in a Lexus IS 300 by Robert Davidoski

This customer lives almost five hours away and makes the drive to Houston for me to work on his cars. Since this is a race car, I wanted to go simple, but co…

Robert Davidoski says:

Yeah, it bumps. The owners 350z is a little louder, but both beat.

0SxK0 says:

what coast of make this mod with screen of dash ? πŸ˜€ Greeting’s from Poland
!!!

cammy says:

i dont get why you sprayed it in red, looks stupid

tomcatdcn says:

@Mahaney82 Look man, don’t be upset because you’re mad at yourself for
picking the slower more boring transmission… for dragging, power shifting
a manual will always be faster than a comparative automatic.

tomcatdcn says:

an automatic race car? :S

John Mahaney says:

@tomcatdcn Good job with google. Yes, stock this automatic isnt impressive
vs manual, but with work just like any motor or trans it does its job and
then some. So yeah, an auto tranny IS can be deadly. I used to to work with
SRT years ago while they were making the jump from superchargers to turbo
and they had great response from the auto. So your funny face and doubt
aside, auto is sick and sometimes preferred for drag use.

Robert Davidoski says:

@tomcatdcn yes. He has some imported supra motor or something in it. not
into the race scene, but the car sounds nasty and looks nasty under the
hood. Since I didn’t do any work there i didn’t include those pics.

Robert Davidoski says:

@loserwing I am not an expert, but i was left with the impression that its
does, but it is a stripped down version.

Robert Davidoski says:

I used a standard metra kit, molded new ABS to the front and mounted the
radio from the back. We had all of the pieces custom painted. The cost to
have a similar kit built would be between $100 to $150.00 plus paint.

Enrique Pacheco says:

Kool but does it bump like mine?

Robert Davidoski says:

@jollygingerguy The number one rule in retail…Give the customer what they
want. He came in asked for red, he got red. Sometimes your personal
opinions or taste have to be left out of the equation. I wouldn’t get much
work telling my customer thier ideas “look stupid”.

bunyan101 says:

@caraudiofreq 1. lexus is 300 has 2jz-ge supra has a 2jz-gte. different
internals and is twin turbo. 2. that box must not have very much cubic
feet. is it ported and if so what too. these trunks are a pain to do
expecially with the fuel pump hump in the trunk. if you wouldnt mind
letting me know what the specs are thatd be great.

John Mahaney says:

@tomcatdcn Who said I own an auto? I never did. Im sorry that slow brain of
yours cant seem to comprehend simple logisics or be open enough to accept
that the autos are good when upgraded. Just like a clutch should be
upgraded in a manual. I feel sorry for you. Try and enjoy not knowing as
much as you can in this world. Poor, kid.

cammy says:

@caraudiofreq thats fair enough if thats what the customer asked for, but
it really doesint go with the car, and looks out of place, but the customer
is allways right…

John Mahaney says:

@tomcatdcn I take it you know nothing about a valve body upgrade, torque
converter upgrade or a sprag clutch upgrade…. Arent some of the fastest
Supras automatic? I guess you also didnt know Boost Logic has a pretty mean
Auto tranny for Supras.

tomcatdcn says:

@Mahaney82 Geeze man, you really make yourself out to be a smart guy, but
based on your previous message, you just made a fool of yourself, and I
don’t need to argue with fools. πŸ™‚ I know more about transmissions than you
do as I have been working on them for over 10 years. In addition to them
being slower, autos are much less reliable. peace

arnold hui says:

@caraudiofreq the lexus is300 already comes with the supra engine doesnt it?

Robert Davidoski says:

@loserwing according to the owner, yes, but it is a stripped down version.
This particular one is a J Spec, or something. he explained it all before
giving me a ride in it, but that was a whiel ago

tomcatdcn says:

@Mahaney82 No i don’t. What I do know is that the drive train resistance in
an automatic is always higher than that of a manual transmission. That’s
why advertised 0-60 times and mileage are always worse for the auto. These
results are proportional to that of the results on the track.

tendai83 says:

@jollygingerguy Someone ‘sounds’ stupid. Its y they call it ‘PERSONALIZING!’

0SxK0 says:

look nice !! πŸ˜€

Robert Davidoski says:

Thanks. I am thinking of doing a “How To” on the making of the kit. Its a
simple job, but looks so much better than a simple kit in the dash.

James Hung says:

@tomcatdcn The car is an automanual race car
