learn something new everyday, I’ve always taken off the whole calliper,
your way made it look so easy, will certainly try your way next change, I
have TD4 callipers on my freelander 1 D
the garage i served my time in 35 years ago, had very little gear, u had to
use ur head. all the time.just a home made bleed bottle. think its a old
powers whiskey bottle, one of my tipples. does the job.
if its got a similar brake caliper. i just open the bled screw to not
damage the ABS pump, and makes pushing back the piston in the cylinder
easier, some mechanics just push the piston back. without open the bled
screw, its ones choice really.
@Toddmars open the bled screw, push the piston on the caliper back the
whole way in, with a screwdriver, close the bled screw, remove the caliper,
remove the old pads, reassemble, check brake fluid level, pump brake until
u have a good brake paddle, then do the opposite side, ok.
you never stop learning with cars, your bottle crocodile clip tool is
brilliant, why have I been struggling balancing bottles on suspension
components for years? top tip !
check the cables are free, if ok, take drums off, clean the shine off the
brake linings, with a sheet of p40 sand paper, then rough up the inside of
the drums, readjust, make sure the hand brake nut is fully off at the hand
brake.before adjusting the wheel at the brake shoe, wear a mask. good luck.
tvo man.
I can never understand when people make brake bleeding videos why they
always compress the piston back into the cylinder and dont bleed the fluid
out. I replaced an abs pump because of this, it was full of rust and grime,
nice to see it being done the right way, thanks for your videos, Im a home
mechanic too working part time, keep up the good work! 🙂
Nice one thanks have you got info for back brakes I’ve adjusted mine but
hand brake still crap drums been cleaned shoes as well and adjusted to fit
drum snug but still crap handbrake cheers fergie man
Mate, I liked your technique with the bottle for the fluid, and you made
way easier than I do. I am just a DYI man. I haven;t change in my
freelander yet, but in my previous car, I took everything out what took me
way more time. Thanks for sharing your video, really helpfull!!!
Is this the same process for a Freelander MK1?
Good video but no lubrication on the pad edges ?
