In this video, I tackle the Freelander 2 rear arch and sill rust repair—a common MOT fail for these cars. This is my second time welding on a car, and I take you through the steps I followed to remove rusted panels and fit replacement metal.

I start by showing the areas affected by rust and explain what to look for when inspecting your own Freelander 2. You’ll see exactly where the metal had corroded and how I prepared it for repair.

Next, I cut out the damaged sections carefully, making sure the surrounding structure stayed intact.

Then I fit and shape the replacement panels so they sit correctly before welding.

Finally, I grind the welds smooth then use body filler to skim over I then flat it back and prime it.
