Wiring problem with Squire VM Jaguar.

I’ve had this guitar for about 4 weeks and this is the second model I’ve had to develop this problem. Basically, the guitar is totally fine until I insert th…

you need to check all the wiring connections, and possibly use copper
shielding tape. Sounds like the wires aren’t properly grounded

Henry Schecker says:

i hope you find a solution for your otherwise beautiful jag

brmanuk says:

Thanks for the message. Where should I put the copper shielding tape?

Jacek Kurowski says:

I think these Squiers are already shielded so there is no need to shield it
with copper foil- The Jag that I own is shielded pretty well. It’s probably
a matter of a cable that is not soldered. Even if there’s no loose cable it
might be just poor soldering. Look and see what you can find. In case you
know shit about soldering search for a random tutorial through google. PS I
bet this is the black one that comes from bridge and is soldered to the
bottom of one of the pots.

Jacek Kurowski says:

happened to me as well……try to adjust it accordingly to the info on
fenderjaguar net. I my case it helped

brmanuk says:

It managed to stay in place for a week or so and then the bridge was out of
position again so I had to take off the strings and reset again. Ugh. It’s
so annoying. Btw do you have a VM Jag or a Fender Jag?

Henry Schecker says:

inside the guitar under the pickups, and underneath the pickguard.

brmanuk says:

After messing around with it, I’ve found the problem is definitely coming
from the bridge. I took out the lower pot and the ground wire connects to
it. However, the connection is fine. The problem is that when using the
tremolo, the bridge moves and loses contact with the pot. Basically the
screw under teh bridge pole isn’t making a good connection. Once I reset
it, it’s fine, but after using the tremolo again (I use it a lot for MBV
style playing) it fucks up again and I have to start over.

Jacek Kurowski says:

I have a VM Jag in Candy Apple Red 🙂 I just made sure that the bridge is
maximally pressed towards the tailpiece when string are tensioned and both
allen key height rods are at the same level.
