I really think I’d be getting that Speedo working before I did anything
else, as someone else pointed out, it’ll compare various data, and should
one “link” be removed it could well throw up a code.

We have a 3 Litre x-type, I know for sure they can be an PITA!!! Sometimes
your average OBDII reader won’t give specifics, we had a Oxygen Sensor
fault, OBDII said it was, but there were six of the bastards!!! took it
to an independent Jaguar Garage, they had the kit to find the exact one
that needed replacement.

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

You really need a good scanner to see the input from the ABS sensors, like
my snap on scanner will do. I’m not too sure if the scanner you have is an
ABS scanner and if it will clear the ABS codes. The ABS codes are stored in
a separate module and usually need a scanner that has the ABS option built
into the scanner and it will clear the ABS module. I would check all your
fuses and the relay’s first. There is a TSB according to Alldata that
shows a few DTC’s you have that points to a faulty ABS module. Check fuses
#15 and #75.

Michael Luscher says:

Check all your grounds, check the condition of all the ABS tone rings,
check the connections at all the ABS sensors. What year is it? I know of a
software that IIRC, will give you more in depth ABS info, and self test
ability, The Software’s free, a ELM327 adapter is $20 or less. But your
most likely going to wind up doing a ABS Pump/Module exchange. Common
problem.

saleem83 says:

Thats a bosch dsc 5.7. the controller sucks. Theyre the exact same thing on
e39 e38 bmws. I’ve replaced a lot of them. You cannot solder anything
inside. Its frog hair wires, and they are soldered in place with an ultra
sonic machine. Module masters will test and rebuild that module for you.

William Stuples says:

Look into that speedo problem because all the abs and speedo are all
connected if the speedo isn’t working the computer can’t tell the abs to
work

mcinkyt says:

It’s throwing codes because you’re pronouncing Jaguar wrong. It doesn’t
like it when you do that

towrecker says:

car is a Lincoln LS btw , thats all it is …

Salvador Vazquez Jr says:

I had the same issue on me all it was that the sensors had to be pushed all
the way in. Even if its a few centimeters off it will cause the problem.

Guinelle1 says:

hey pisser, is it safe to use spray can primer and go over it with a
urethane single stage?

drvshaft drew says:

hay bud try eraseing your codes drive the car over 10 mph and then check
the codes again if this does not work disconnect your batt neg cable for 5
mins then drive the car and check the codes should clear all codes good
luck also if your speedo is not working it may never clear the code untill
you fix the speedo

Andrew Thompson says:

Aside of power and ground problems a reacurring ECU fault is usually a bad
ECU. This design of board attached directly to the valve block is not a
good idea. Note some cars need to be driven a few metres for the light to
go out.A used module will require coding to the car. Ericthecarguy has a
video of a Saab Abs module repair.

wtbm123 says:

Thinking I might do voltage drop test on power and grounds to module. ..I
would look at scan data to see if all sensors are reading ,but with out
data on scanner ,could check wiring from controller to wheel sensors with a
meter to see if wiring is good. Wondering if speedometer is part of issue.
If you know anyone with a scanner that gives live data ,could use to see
more ,or a wire diagram to see if speedo is in system.

0778drz110 says:

it’s a ford, use your ford tool to fix it

naterade21 says:

Never knew these had a stick option, basically its just a Lincoln ls

towrecker says:

trace power , blown or corroded fuses ? no power to the mod can cause all
hell to break loose like that …

vwfoolwhy says:

ABS control module relay or control module. Common Ford Abs System
Problems. It will throw the wheel sensor code once the car starts to move.

fillg says:

Some rear wheel drive Fords use an ABS sensor in the rear end for the
speedometer. Since you’re showing problems with both, I’d guess the problem
is gonna be something with the sensor or maybe the wiring if the previous
owner replaced the sensor.

Dan Gerous says:

In my experience that has been 9 times out of 10 a ground fault, hope I
could be some help.

siemenstraffic says:

P1637
Try checking the ABS fuses and erasing the codes.

Jesse Crandle says:

I have a Saab, what happens is the ABS module itself has connections that
get tarnished badly and when that happens the brake, abs, traction control,
and idiot lights all come on. When you first get the issue it’s
intermittent and it slowly turns into an error that happens every time you
start the car and eventually leads to the speedometer not reading at all.
I’d recommend at least Googling ABS module issues for x series and seeing
if that kind of issue comes up. I’m sure the module is expensive, but I
know that with the Saab for $120 or so they can be remanufactured and are
guaranteed to not fail for the life of the vehicle (they’ll fix it again if
it fails in the future).

Fireship1 says:

Most likely abs module or abs pump issue. I’d check battery cables, all
primary grounds and the condition of the alternator before I’d replace
anything. That pump needs 13-14 volts with the 60 amps that it’s fused for.
If you have an alternator on the way out, or bad battery connections or
grounds. it will cause weird electrical issues like this. Start with the
simple stuff first. Good luck man.

salland12 says:

English cars always go wrong

Hugh Hennessy says:

Try asking V8Jagnut on his channel…he may be able to help.

ItsAlwaysRusty says:

My old Dodge Ram threw an ABS light and the the speedo went crazy with a
simple speed sensor fault at the back wheels. The bad sensor sent the wrong
info to the computer and the difference between the front and rear speed
sensors was so off it made the speedo read all over the place. Wouldn’t
hold still. Maybe? Take Care

phil holbrook says:

pisser dont replace the abs module, the c1165 is throwing the 1175 there is
an open on the right rear wheel speed sensor. do you know how to use an ohm
meter? unhook the abs module harness check for continuity from there to the
right rear sensor.

Kevin Cook says:

its not a jagwaaaar it is jag u ar I should check the speedo as im
sure this could sort other faults best of luck

j0gigs says:

Pisser looks like these are notorious for having bad solder joints in the
abs module. Do a search on youtube for jaguar abs repair. hope this
helps.

Ross Robertson says:

I don’t know how easily you can get parts for jags over there, but if it’s
something you need from the UK I might be able to send it over to the
states for you.

96ChevyDually6.5L says:

Check harness plug on module for worn wire insulator for
possible grounding also check for cracked connector. moisture entry issue .
Module sounds bad otherwise

fabulousprofound says:

are there message boards for this car? maybe someone there would know?

351cleavland says:

Make sure you pronounce the name correctly shjaag-you-waer. Make sure you
say it with an uppercrust accent.

ACEcolorado1 says:

going through the same thing with my 02 Accord just havent got round to
diagnosing it

John Loney says:

the s-type was a Lincoln ls. the x-type in a ford mondeo/contour/mystique

phil holbrook says:

also the p1637 is caused by the can bus system malfunction between the ecm
and tcm (engine control modue) and (transmission module) check the powers
and grounds on both of those modules

Hugh Hennessy says:

Pronounced “Jag-u-r” :-)

Jay m says:

if your getting a C1175 sensor code on the back part of the car, its most
likely a muffler bearing issue

markhen51 says:

id check the sensor ring for the abs first

D4x4Bronc says:

get another panther platform car or a superduty or 2500.

mikey340bird says:

try a different scan tool , id check the speed sensor on the trans first

Kevin Cook says:

Pisser the tones rings they fill with dust muck etc give them a clean that
may cure abs problem

bpimpin19832 says:

wheel bearings sensors will do that

Bighappy says:

Gotta Love hard codes..

mustang4321 says:

could it be a speed sensor?

Safwentay says:

Ooh aah, jag – u – ah.
