Jaguar is returning with a new level of product to rival Bently – you wait and see….
Jaguar abandoned their customer base, abandoned their market position, wanted to be cool and funky, pissed on their heritage, had a wet dream about being a volume premium manufacturer like BMW, Merc, Audi, failed, had another wet dream about beating Tesla, failed, and now Jaguar with no sports car and no limo is technically dead
Jaguar have struggled for a good while now. Tata only really wanted for Range Rover, I believe. It wouldn't surprise me if the Jaguar name disappears altogether, it seems like they are running the brand down. The F-Type has been discontinued in the UK now too, so their line up is even smaller. Fewer people here buy saloons now, so they only have the E, F and I-Pace. I-Pace is electric only and led the way on introduction, but has been caught up with and surpassed now technologically.
Think one of their biggest problems is that the Germans are simply too good. Jaguar can't keep up in technology terms, and are outclassed in reliability, as you say. What is Jaguar's market now? Younger/middle aged people aren't enthralled by the brand. The Germans offer every combination of sportyness/luxury and performance that most people would want. If you want something particularly sharp to drive, you've got Lotus, Porsche, Alpine and so on. If you've got lots to spend, then Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren come into play. If you want high levels of luxury, Bentley and Rolls-Royce are there. If you don't want to spend too much, then even mainstream cars are decent today.
