In this video, I will be removing the stock halogen bulb and installing an HID kit on a 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback. This procedure is basically the same process for all generation Civic including the 10thgen Civic (CivicX).

The HID bulb I’m using is TRS XBH11B 5500K pair with Quick Start Ballast.

It is recommended to run a hid relay kit but not absolutely required. As long as you use quality hid kit you shouldn’t have any issues with flickering problems. Honda uses the same gauge wire for all their standard halogen headlights. For 35W kits, I have not seen 1 single vehicle come back to the shop with wires melting due to an HID kit. My previous 6thgenaccord had HID installed without a relay kit for 10 years without a single issue. Same goes for my 2013 Accord, 2005 Accord, 2012 Fit, and 2008 Civic. However, I would recommend you install a relay kit if you use 50W-55W HID kits or cheap eBay HID kits in general.

The cutoff on this stock projector looks different than the 9thgenaccord. I would recommend doing a complete retrofit for this generation civic.
