1995 Civic AC belt install

Hey i know its kind of a dumb question but do you have to have the ac belt
on? or can i just take the belt off and leave it off without causing any
damage to the engine?

In the video I have the wheel assembly on the table. I have it stacked in
the way it goes together. See if you have it stacked that way.
