My 2005 Yukon has problems with the tach,,battery and gas gauge sticking and reading wrong, the key has to be jiggled in the lock,,,,,,ignition switch ?
Poor video. More time viewing the floorboards, seats or dashboard padding than the actual ignition switch. Never even showed how to remove the wires from old switch to new one. Waste of time.
works for me. I have an 03 Silverado z71 nightmare electrical issues. New altinater new battery. Get in can hear fuel pump and starter but thats all. Guage shows she is holding at 12 volts instead of the 14 it takes to start it. When I take my key out the key in ding will continue for about a minute or 2. Thinking it may be the switch (already changed the relay when it tried to start itself a couple months ago. Your video has taken a lot of worry and stress off me over this repair. Looks so easy. Glad I don't have to remove the steering wheel like we had to in the decades past models. Thank you
BTW, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 ignition switches look "almost" like this but are NOT the same as he shows in this video. On the aforementioned years the switch is permanently attached to the wiring pigtail and is not as easily swapped. It is removed basically the same way but it will have the entire wiring harness pigtail attached. The "harness" is a little more than a foot long and needs to be removed and installed along with the switch. You can then see why GM switched over to THIS style like he shows here. 2000-2002 are similar but not the same as this video. No big deal, it's basically the same just know that there's quite a bit more involved due to snaking of the wires and five harnesses that need to be unclipped.
hey just curious what was your problem??? on my 2002 chevy truck i have to jiggle the key to turn over but other than that it runs fine. could it be the same problem ?
how do you know its the ignition switch that is bad? my truck sometimes doesnt start/turn over right away and will sometimes die when driving. do you think its the switch? like your video by the way

What was the reason you replaced him
that's not an ignition switch that's a ignition lock cylinder the switch is located else where

Of course he didn't show how to disconnect the wires under the steering column…

I love General Motors but something's wrong when it's easier to change the ignition switch than it is to let down the spare tire!
Hola alguien sabe como quitar el shitch a una yukon 2002
3:23 "Gimme a couple of minutes to figure that out…….." cut to night time! Hahaha.
the 99 to 2002 is a completely different switch. this video is only for 2003 to 2006
