(Pt 1) Parts Cannon Classic!! ('94 Ford F150 V8: Crank No-Start; Memorial Day 2026)

For Memorial Day 2026 we have an American Classic Truck.
Owner towed his Beached Whale 1994 Ford F150 V8 from 2 hours away.

He says he’s owned the truck for 2 years, and during the last 18 months it has been stalling out and sometimes not re-starting until it cools off.

The PARTS CANNON has been UNLEASHED: complete MSD IGNITION System, FUEL System, Exhaust Headers, and EVERY sensor under the hood has been replaced!!
Owner says that he’s spent so much $$ on this truck, that he can’t give up on it now.

Let’s start with the BASICS: fuel, spark, compression…PLACE YOUR BETS NOW!

Could definitely do with less fighting the conflicting opinion comments. You are good with a laptop and scope, lots of mechanics are not, and then there's the caveman mechanics. You're not going to change someone's mind by arguing with them, especially when you plug in your scope and don't get the magical answer right away. Keep up the good work!

@ousmanediop9113 says:

Kinda young for that flag…I thought we were moving forward…

@trezsr says:

When scoping for injector pulse, wouldn’t you want to use the same ground as the injector circuit “sees” or uses to make sure that you don’t have a bad, say, engine ground (consult wiring diagram to determine where the ground source is located) that’s affecting the strength of the spark, especially in the rust belt? Sorry Bernie.

@FredFlin-r6x4x says:

If the injectors are being pulsed at the correct time, there's always the possibility that for SOME fkn reason the "dwell time" is too long. When the guy said the computer had been "worked on" by multiple people, that's sus. Also the possibility that the injectors are "leaking by"

Another cliffhanger!!!
Im thinking the TPS is out of adjustment.

@happy543210 says:

The problem is all that aftermarket garbage. Especially that k&n filter.

@topcat5988 says:

Ivan, love your work!
Just wondering, why do you not use new crimp terminals and rebuild the original connectors?
I guess the repairs you do are sufficient and less expensive than doing that but I feel more satisfied when I rebuild connectors with fresh wire.

@throttlebottle5906 says:

someone failed and had a bad crimp, same thing happens with bad solder joints. dirty corroded wire and poor flow will do just the same and fail spectacularly and often a contaminated bad solder joint will fail before a good crimp on the same poor wiring. so it's really about the person doing the work and their technique.

@jmplants says:

Check the map sensor, but you probably already did that

@johndenchuk5553 says:

That green wire you left out has to be put back in the system ………should never do what you did to that wire !

@survivingga says:

Anytime I get past my initial checks on these EECIV vehicles and they're still acting goofy I go straight to the ECU and open it up looking for leaking capacitors. I still repair these fairly often.

@scotted6136 says:

these f150s were known to leak from the windshield and foul the fuse box, not sure if it your prob might something to check .

@johnmilner6484 says:

Its fixed…until its not

@davidp7163 says:

Probably the single worst problem with all these auto repair videos is the anoying car dings lol. Wish there was a filter you could apply to remove them dings from the footage.

@hermanmiller3708 says:

Ivan "I don't know why there are two wires here but I will eliminate one of them without knowing what it is for",

@scottcrowley2061 says:

EEC-IV computer has (2) 47 uf 50volt and I believe (1) 10 uf 50volt electrolytic capacitor in the EEC that leak electrolyte and cause weird problems. Super easy to replace.

@2packs4sure says:

All you 80s and 90s Ford guys never forget that those engine computers have 30 40 year old capacitors that are either bad or going bad and they need to be dealt with !!!
Those old capacitors will cause all kinds of weirdness…

@Spacecat45 says:

This ford has a less than 10 volts. it will not start but turn over check the wires near the battery they will be swollen as far down as two feet all wires

@sheerwillsurvival2064 says:

Spout connector on this one ? The ecu on the older ones used to get bad condensers they leak onto the circuit board and cause weird problems . Think there’s 4 of them on the circuit board and you could redo them

@topher8634 says:

That second wire on the trigger of the coil goes to the tach if I remember correctly

@Dominick0477 says:

Wrong injectors
