helpful vid, i know a few people with fuses missing so any chance of a
upload on how to put them right? : )
thanks mate. really helped..simple when u know how eh!!
thanx mate.. this’s really helpful
Hey Kev thanks for showing me where to find the fuse I blew mine by having
a three way adaptor and everything on at once. I like your style but I
think you’re a mug for paying for a 20 amp fuse… I just stripped the
plastic coating off a wire tie that was lying around and formed a figure of
eight around the terminals. Works great and I’m using fused chargers and
splitters anyway.
There are lots of people with a common sense approach but not everyone is
the same , and yes I have seen someone use a bit of tin foil as a fuse in a
domestic plug argh.anyway as an engineer I have to be cautious ,there are
things that are not obvious, such as oxide on the surface of the wire
wrapped around terminals if not soldered will be of higher resistance and
generate heat. melt fuse casing.? also recently I bought a cheap import
10Metre audio lead, Copper content so low 20 Ohms.
Thank you so much for the information, you have saved me time and money.
Well done, delighted you kindly took the time to make this video. My
warmest wishes to you.
Really helpfull , thanks.
It was a real help mate. It saved my time and money. A bit stuck but manual
helped a lot. Thanks a loads
Not at all, delighted with your video, these are so helpful.
My post should read, my wife had used the cigar lighter housing…..
many thank, ur the top man!!!!!!!!!!!
Hoked and poked but could not get dash open until i watched your video,
many thanks.
D’OH!…:)
ace vid…Also another tip is be careful not to drop that little fuse
removal tool in the engine bay whilst extracting it from it’s holder cos
it’s nigh on impossible to retrieve it should it fall into the maze of
nooks and crannys.
Thanks fella
Cool..! Just posted another Mondeo vid today, my first new fault since …
load if shit
thank you so much i know how to open it now
Thank you Kevin, couldn’t have done it without you! couldn’t even find the
fusebox haha!
Top bloke. Cheers.
Even though you are using fused chargers and splitters , the 20 amp fuse is
needed to protect the wiring on the car side, if you draw more than 20 amps
there will be a volt drop across the cables and they will heat up. Worse
case scenario the insulation could melt and you could cause a fire, high
price to pay for not buying a fuse that costs pennies…….
Thanks-Well Explained -Well Done
You are welcome ! Thank you for taking the time to give feedback.
It’s it safe to use a bigger fuse than the original.
You just saved me a few hours & a lot of money, cheers from Ireland.
SAVED ALOT OF HASTLE THANK YOU
Greetings from Norway, Kevin. Thanks alot for taking your time to make this
video. This saved me from an awkward bill at the service center and I
rather did it myself. Now I can charge my phone again 🙂
Thanks buddy saved me loads of messing around!
Thanks just changed mine, wife had used the cigar to house a metal pen
which caused a short, hence no Sat Nav, it turned out on my car it was the
one is shown on the diagram at the side of the glove compartment tray, also
the most awkward one to replace. Thanks again very clear concise video.
really helpful and easy to follow cheers for uploading vid 🙂
Hello! Before I go foraging under the bonnet, is this process the same for
the 2001 model? Thanks x
Hey cautious Kev I read your reply about heating of the wires if overloaded
but a thin wire like the one I bridged the fuse with will be the weakest
link in the circuit whether or not the breaking point is exactly 20amps
load…. It’s certainly going to blow before a copper wire melts it’s
sheath. It’s good to be cautious though and ye if anyone does the cheap fix
method I did you’re right to point out the best thing would be to change it
for a ford fuse eventually..
Really useful. Thanks for making this video!
