Installing the mechanical fuel pump on a small block ford is a very easy and straight forward process. Begin with a clean surface on the timing cover. Make sure you have quality hardware and the gasket is clean. Depress the fuel pump activation arm slightly to clear the eccentric and install the bolts. Hand tighten them and do not over tighten the bolts. You will install the NPT fittings later in the build.

David Davis says:

I have a Holley fuel pump on my 302 mustang engine. Sucks, leaks from the gaskets. Put a new one one, did same thing.

Timothy Eldred says:

Which line was for the tank inlet looking at the pump. Right side or left side

Donnell Hancox says:

I followed everything perfectly. The problem that I’m having is, I can get fuel pumped from the gas tank. But I can’t get fuel from the pump to the carburetor. Can someone help me please.

Vin One says:

Easy to install with the motor on a stand, more difficult with the engine in the car, especially mating the fuel pump lever with the eccentric, correctly.

Mike Ravioli says:

Link up with me. You mentioned youre in Tampa. Im pretty close by and would love for you to check out my car sopmetime. ALSO is that mechanical pump mount on the timing cover? I thought it mounts to the block and i think my 94 mustang setup doesnt have that connection…

JackintheBox says:

Can't you rotate the engine so the eccentric is at its furthest from the arm? Then it ought to slide in without any force?

Robert Cowan says:

OH YEA U PAINTED THE OIL FILTER MOUNT………………DUMMY

Jack Lundquist says:

Thanks for the video. You may want to move your camera a little less. It jumps around too much making it hard to follow. Just slow movements with camera/phone camera.

Great vids. The biggest pain is lifting and getting bolts in…..i used an extra long bolt on one side to help lift it. Got the other bolt in then took long one out and put permanent bolt in. (Limited space tip)

mongomay1 says:

Same thing, how come parts that engage each other are not lubed for start-up and gasket and thread sealants on certain bolts?

wildbillo68 says:

"Over in Tampa" you in Orlando? I'm on the east coast near melbourne. lol Is that a Roller Motor? I have a 1985 Foxbody I just bought and need advise on my build… I was a Pontiac guy most my life and decided to buy a Fox….the 85 isn't an easy motor cause it was built in July 85 and on the cusp of the Roller motor change over… How can i be sure of what I have internally so I can order parts for the build? hahahha

R Mustangs says:

Nothing worse than getting the pump, opening up the box and seeing you'll need to buy the two fittings for fuel entry and exit. The part number for those are Edelman 821560.

Larry D. Yarbrough says:

Hello.  I am taking on a 1964 chevy c10 small block.   Can you tell me how my fuel pump goes on? My truck does not come with the push rod that makes the plunges the fuel pump.  Thanks.
