That backward headrest tho

Toonses says:

I’d say spray white lithium grease in the shaft should be good enough.

adagre says:

Will this feel like a shudder as the driveline is loaded up from a stop? My
truck feels like its wagging its tail as the driveline loads up from a
stop, quickly goes away once your rolling. Or is this normal?

lucas lawnservice says:

Would this be the same for a 2000 F150? Could I just pull the drive shaft
and put grease in it like the new one you had had on it? And if so, what
kind of grease do you use? Thanks a lot!

chvjmc says:

about every 3-6 months i have to grease my 2 piece drive shaft to keep that
clunk from coming back. just did it again today cause i waited almost a
year and it was really hard at stops and starts. would be nice if you can
drill and tap a grease zert in there like the old chevys had,

mculli80 says:

I have a 2010 with the two piece drive shaft that had this problem and you
aren’t exaggerating one bit on how horrible and annoying this problem is.
It made me hate and want to get rid of my truck. My local dealer fixed it
using the method you showed under warranty and the drivetrain feels nice
and tight now. I’m back to loving my F-150. Thanks for posting this. I know
this problem has been going around the forums for years.

srercrcr says:

I remember a time splines had a film of oil….never an issue.

StoneysWorkshop says:

I actually have to take my truck in, 2012 5.0, looses power on the top end,
can’t rev past 4300-4500 to speed up! It gets stuck, triggered a flashing
check engine light for about 10-15 seconds then went away

klc317 says:

I had something similar on my ’03 4×4 Ranger. It also has a one piece
aluminum driveshaft….got the good ford tube of the same grease and it’s
been good for several years now. I originally thought it was a u-joint but
ended up being this exact same issue.

ICU2 says:

Good grief Ford………….No excuse for this BS. Trying to save a few
pennies on grease?

StoneysWorkshop says:

I have a 2012, sometimes it feels like someone rear ends me!
Hasn’t been bad lately, hopefully that doesn’t mean it’s gonna fall off the
truck!

PolarisTop Ten says:

Brian, I have a 2013 that is doing this same thing. Is there a TSB for them
also?

peter murdock says:

Awesome video. Love the channel

MrOlderandwiser says:

GM had this same issue years ago. I did hundreds of them. Same
thing….they had us grease the slip joint as a band-aid, and that didn’t
fix it, in the long run. Replacing the slip yoke with the heavy nickel
plated yoke did fix it.

Brian Ostlund says:

Sounds like the same problem that GM’s have had for a couple of decades.

hanratty450 says:

This had been a battle for my 2011. Seems that grease only lasts less than
6 months. Now I have the extended service plan. Wonder if I can get the
undated shaft
