Honestly this is a huge risk, just fix your steering column bushing (forgot the actual name) and fix your front end because you can destroy the steering box doing this.

@user-uj3zk2cx8t says:

All that allen screw on the box does is set the bearing pre-load. You're cranking it tight is putting a ton of stress on the internal bearings of the box. This will tighten up your steering temporarily, until the bearings fail inside the box because you cranked them Hercules tight.

I do the slack adjustment too but if it’s a Cummins it’s usually worth getting a redhead.

I’ve learned that it’s a steering column bushings Most people instantly think it’s a steering gear box.

Replace with a red head stearing box!!!! No more trouble. The only permanent fix!!!!

@BigLurchman says:

If you turn that into far you will bind the gearing on the inside and then you’ll loose steering be careful. 1/4 turn at a time.

@CustomJeep says:

That might help for a little while but you better just be saving up for a new steer box. Plus theres a lot of tie rod ends and track bar that could be loose. It’s not all just with the steering box.

Bars and dampeners will do best all around but not perfect

Slop = play in the steering wheel. Roger
