@Scheufler26 ah ah ok, i thought u meant i could get some kind of cross
over to power a tweeter-link speaker (not true tweeter tho). I guess if i
got 8 ohm speakers i could do it, but not gonna do that. i will prob get a
4 chan amp, bridge chan’s for the sub and use the other 2 chans for the
6×9’s in the doors and power the 3 1/2 in dash’s with the radio and the
rears like u did basically.
@mike240se i went to best buy and told them i want to hook up 6 speakers to
my 4 channel head unit and the guy was clueless, he said come back whe nthe
installers there. can u link me to the adapter u are refering to?
@mike240se Did I say 6×8’s? Oops. No the front doors are 6×9’s. But you can
put any speaker you want in there if you have the know how to build a
baffle. And every Ram has holes for 3.5’s in the dash, but only the premium
sound models actually have speakers in the holes.
i also have no premium system. just added a new head unit and was wondering
how the stock speakers were wired? was there a factory amp or atleast
crossovers for the stock tweeters in dash?
@Scheufler26 Also what did u mean by a “radio adaptor”, i am sure i know
what u mean but am not sure about that term. I was thinking i needed cross
overs possibly for the tweeters, maybe the adapters split the channel and
high pass the tweeters?
@mike240se If you dont have the premium sound then you only have 4
speakers, one in each door, with no tweeter. No factory amp or crossover
either, its all done by the radio. Are you just powering the speakers with
the new radio? If so then just buy a radio adaptor for cheap. Match the
colors, connect it up, and enjoy.
Just put in the 3.5s in my 2008. Thought I had the 7-speaker version of the
Navi, turns out I had the cheapo 4 speaker… the install went pretty easy,
considering I had to route speaker wire through the dash, cut and splice
some wiring from the factory harnesses, and took just about every piece of
plastic I could off the dash only to realize I only needed to take the
front piece by the windshield. Thanks for the vid, bro. It made the job
easier!
Bro i have a 99 chrysler concorde with the infinity sound system but i want
to replace the 3.5″ speakers but which speakers will fit, ive tried a few
and they dont fit?
@mike240se Whoa whoa man. The adaptor just simplifies the addition of a new
radio so you dont have to cut up the existing harness. You cant put 6
speakers on a 4 channel head unit. Head units dont like being ran under 4
ohms, you would probably pop fuses like crazy. If you want to add more
speakers you are going to need an amp.
@Scheufler26 Perfect. I will use 6×9’s because I hate working with
bondo/glass. I worked as a professional installer during highschool/college
but that was 10 years ago 🙂 Any idea whats in the rear on the std cab? I
have gotten huge range of what works and whats needed to make it fit. I was
considering adding a infinity bass link behind my seat for some added bass,
idk what else will really fit. I need to keep space behind the seats for my
work tools too.
@Scheufler26 the fact i dont makes it much easier really. I have the
standard cab though, not the extended like yours. Do 6×9’s not fit? I
noticed you said 6x8in in this video but have them listed as 6×9 in others.
So basically i have just a new head unit (sony bluetooth model) right now.
I am going to add power window motors and lock actuators this weekend and
plan on upgrading the doors in the process. I have gotten mixed info on
what fits in the rear tho.
@zombieladyy If your truck did not come stock with the upgraded sound
system then you will have to run your own wire. It’s not hard, there is
tons of room under the dash to snake it through.
@Scheufler26 Thanks for getting back to me. I had no idea the dash speakers
were empty, i havent gotten that far yet actually. I just got the truck
like a week ago. I was told at best buy when i picked up the radio and the
install kit/harness that it had 6×9’s in the door, 6 1/2 in the rear and 3
1/2 in the dash. When i installed the head unit there was only 4 speakers
(2F and 2 R) on the factory harness so i assumed there were maybe factory
cross overs.
@mike240se Yea that sounds more like it.

I highly recommend you all check out Scheufler26’s other car audio videos,
some great info! The crimping soldering ones are great too!
i was wondering if u can explain how you hooked up ur car speaker to the
amp im new to car audio and ive been trying to find videos on it

hey when u added the 3.5s did u have to run the wire? how hard was it to
run the speaker wire from the dash to the head unit?… thanks

Glad I could help man.

You might have to do some cutting to make them fit. Stock speakers are
sometimes weird shapes.
