Would this work for a 2001 4.3 4×4 ls p/u
bs use red rtv
Shouldn’t you wait a few hours or 12 at least for the RTV to cure before starting it up?
Great video though, I’m getting ready to tackle this on my 2000 GMC Jimmy (same 4.3L vortec) But nice work man 🙂
Thanks dude for the video. What a great help. I didn’t know how to get the belt off and now I know. I wish I had the power tools! And when you took it out for a test run you showed the gauges. THANKS
Thanks very helpful video i just replaced my 1994 chevy s10 ss with a heavy duty boush water pump now she’s runs like shit and doesnt sound good when i first start it after it gets to operating temperature its runs fine please help
FYI- if an aftermarket tensioner was used (like I had to install on my 95 astro today), the size to use might be a 15mm, not a 16mm.
Thanx master yoda!!!
After taking off the 4 bolts from the fan clutch the fan doesn’t want to come off. This is the only part that is slowing me down. Should I just take the entire pump/fan off together or is there another way?
Thanks for the video, Just what the doctor ordered! Pump went out in an old 95 S10 of mine.
Excellent video – concise and to the point.
made it seem very easy. i might end up doing it myself if i have time. thanks.
You clearly understand what you are doing.
for what i seen thanks to the video i will said it will take me about and hour thanks for the upload
good job, doing this same repair tomorrow on an astro van
Why black rtv sealant and not blue?
I replaced my water pump on my ’95 S10 ast year at 115,000 miles. Never had a problem, however, I did replace all the hoses and timing chain. Runs like a top!
muy bien amigo real good video my friend
did u have to extend anything but the fan shroued when u did the bodey lift
Very well done sir!
If you own a garage or auto repair center, I would highly recommend you just based on your knowledge here. Thanks much for the help, you helped a family in Colorado get their auto back on the road. : )
thanks great job i bet it was hard foing stuff single handed
What a great video! my water pump is starting to leak, as soon as I get ready to replace it I’ll watch it again. Tanks!!!
Yeah, I crushed them pretty good. I’ve got them out of the way and will repair them; but I guess I’ll have to find another culprit as I don’t think that’s whats stopping my fuel pump (I can’t hear it, so I think thats whats wrong). Thanks for your response and for the great videos.
If you pinched wires, (possibly going to the crankshaft position sensor) you need to fix that first. It will probably leak there anyway.
hi, great instructions! I just finished changing the water pump in my 95 Jimmy but now it won’t start. It’s turning over great but either no gas or no fire. I think I might have pinched that wire on the left- could that be the problem? Thanks
