i have a 05 silverado last night when i shut the truck off the vents kept
blowing to where i had to disconnect the battery to make it stop is this a
blower resister issue?
I have a 2002 Rendevouz. AC and heat go out intermittently. Do you think
that is also the blower motor resistor?
Great information, thanks. Replaced mine a few weeks ago. What really saved
time was specifying 5.5mm bolts. Didn’t have that size and probably would
have bought something too large or small.
on that one, the harness going to the blower motor is integrated into the
blower resistor, so you will have to replace the whole resistor.
I have a 2007 Tahoe and the blower would stop working but when I shook some
of the parts it would come back on. I finally took the time to take off the
cover and it looks pretty much the same as the ruck in the video I touched
the wire leading to the back of the blower and it came back on. I kept
moving it and it would cut out and start up again so I knew I had found the
problem. I pulled the wire off the back of the blower to inspect it and
found that the clip had slightly melted.
My question is do I need to replace the whole resistor or can I just
replace the connector? And if it is just a case of replacing the connector
where can I buy that?

I have a 2002 avalanche, my blower fan works great at 40 mph and below but
about 40 mph the blower speed cuts in over half. Any thoughts??

Oh yeah, you probably have the Automatic Temperature Control? That setup
uses what’s called a Blower Control Module rather than a resistor like
shown in this video. We also carry those for your truck, you can click on
the link below the video to find it if you ever need another one in the
future.
I just changed the resistor in my 2007 Silverdo Classic, and the part
listed here and at Autozone was incorrect for my vehicle. I had to go to
the Chevy dealership with the resistor in hand. Apparently, Chevy has
redesigned the part. I paid $100 for the new one. It has different plugs,
and so I had to splice it into the truck. It now works like a champ.
Look at the beginning of the video. The wires were already out and the
cover was already scratched.

It sounds like you probably have Automatic Temp Control? Those are
notorious for doing the exact symptoms you describe. If thats the case,
you probably need a new Blower Control Module, which you can find on our
site.

blower will not go off after the truck is turned off.
This truck had an extensive after market stereo system already installed, I
just put the vehicle back to the same condition in which it was given to us.
Look at the video again. It was already scratched and the wires were
already hanging down. Probably an after market set of wires
My 2005 single cab Silverado had no cover to unscrew. All I had to do was,
unplug the 2 wires, & unscrew the 2 bolts. Thanks so much for the help!!!
Wrenching on a rainy day. Peace of cake. My AC actually blows when I want
it to now. I wouldn’t work on 1&2 settings for a minute. Then it wouldn’t
turn off even when the truck was off.

I have a 2006 chevy silverado vortec max 6.0 v8. It has the auto temp. When
I turn the fan on high, it doesnt blow the speed it should. Blows real low,
do you think its the resistor, or motor?
Can you hear the blower motor turn on or make any noise when you turn the
AC on high? If not, then this is possibly the problem, it could also be the
blower motor bad, an electrical issue, or even something stuck in the
blower physically blocking it.
05 silverado …just had stealership replace compressor…temp will not go
below 60….at idle 70….now what?

Very helpful, however the simple removal of that little plug was enough to
put me in the loony bin. I noticed your video was interrupted. I also cut
and spliced the new one in after some major frustration.
I need to replace my rheostat on my 2003 Chevy Silverado…..again. I lost
speed 5 and dealt with it for a year and half then replaced the rheostat.
After about 6 months, I lost speed 5 again and just the other day, the
hottest days of the year, I lost all 5 speeds.
