In this video I have a look at a customer’s 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 that had already been to another repair shop because the horn didn’t work and the Service 4WD light was on. According to their diagnosis, the horn had power and ground but somehow still wouldn’t honk. That explanation didn’t add up.
The previous shop also replaced the front axle actuator in an attempt to fix the 4WD system, but the warning light stayed on and the system still wouldn’t work.
Instead of loading up the parts cannon, we’re going to verify the complaints, perform some real diagnostics, and see what this truck is trying to tell us. Along the way we’ll explain DTC P062F (Internal Control Module EEPROM Error) and determine why the previous repairs didn’t solve the problem.
Was the horn really bad? Was the new actuator defective? Or is something else hiding in plain sight? Let’s find out.

Just changed 4w/d actuator on my 1988 Chevy 2500 p/u with 300 k miles on it. Job took 15 minutes and no programming necessary. And yes I still have my arms to pull the manual transfer case handle.
Living in the Detroit metro area and driving all around for what I’m doing right now in my phase of life, every time I drive by a giant General Motors building in either Pontiac or wherever I just give them a dirty look as I drive by, GM is off it’s rails!
You need a AC for your shop!
I wrote it already under other videos! Footage of the installation is really good shown on other YouTube channels
I can't see the parking lot!!!! Quit yelling!
The HMMWV for the military is all manual shifting for the transfer very simple
Again, why does a horn need to be programmed??
2020 and the horn don't work??? My 99 Tacoma's horn sometimes blows itself just to show off.
I do NOT understand why SMA would not get any repair job after a proper diagnosis unless the customer was fully capable of performing the repair himself – especially when the other shop screwed up a simple diagnosis and installed an unnecessary part.
Buy,them,some glasses. What the hell
"Swing and a miss" and you can't even give us a Wayne's World "Schwing!!" ?? Maybe you're not an 80's kid after all…. 🙂
(Great video, thanks for the diag!)
I will never understand electric parking brakes. Having a servo motor doing the job of your arm or foot.
And that's just getting me started!
Thanks, Eric!
I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 and my truck just quit going down the interstate. It has no prnd. If I unplug the aux chassis control module i get the prnd back and the truck starts but says service trailer brakes. Is this a broken wire? Please help! Thanks Eric
Don't usually leave negative comments, but I was a little disappointed when you were a little short and snapped at
the lovely Mrs. O. Could tell the day wasn't going well. But!!?
Hey there, my friend. I've watched tons of your videos & I'm very impressed by your knowledge & professionalism !! Here's a "great" trivial question for you. I've worked on vehicles over 30 years & I'm still totally stumped why my 2011 Impala won't start. I can't afford a live scan tool, so it's a lot more difficult for me to find the solution. Whenever I try to start my car. I only get a single clicking sound from the fuse box inside the car. There's no noise whatsoever from under the hood when cranking over the Impala. I do know for a 100% fact that all fuses, wires, starter, ecm, ignition switch, relays, shifter cable wires, battery, neutral safety switch & motor are all functioning perfectly ! So, please advise me on what you possibly think might be the reason that pita Impala won't start ?? I'd greatly appreciate it…..
Like Mrs O would let a curse word fly !!!!!!
Sir I understand what you are saying. These people didn't give these mechanics the tools to work on these cars. I told them they should have given the mechanics the tools ,so we can pay to get our machines serviced when turning up and oil change. We should be allowed to service any mechanic.
In fairness……the broken wire might have made contact when the previous guy tested it.
I've got 2 vehicles and I've never used the horn once since 2012. I can't remember when I used the car horn last. Who would use their horn now days…….every other vehicle is carrying a GUN.
My comment.
Can someone please tell me the "other shop" watches sma? How the f do you even justify being such a hack "other shop"? We want to know.
