Michael Sackstein says:

you’re right about the head gaskets being prone to blowing on those
cadilacs. and if I’m not mistaken you have to remove the entire subframe of
the car from the chasis (which you need a lift for) to gain access to the
engine to get the cylinder heads off to change the head gaskets. so it’s a
pretty nasty job doing the heads on these caddies as you can probably
imagine.

mscutiebum Followme says:

I own the same type of car they over heat because they need a head gasket
replacement that’s 2000 and if the engines comes out you might as well
change the other gaskets an additional 500 bucks. Such a nice car but big
money to fix this well known problem

chris lawrence says:

main reason for the bad head gasket is that people get lazy and never
change out the dexcool like they are supposed to. My caddy runs just fine.

TheRickfix says:

now thats a nice 300 dollar car, something in that condition around here
would be worth around 3000 dollars great deal, good luck to ya dan

rockinrollfan37 says:

Wow! i think if i were you i would hunt that son of a whore down an kick
him in the ASS! what a dirty trick

Xbow361 says:

so sad someone would condemn the car and sell it for the price of scrap,
These cars are the last of there kind and yet people are destroying them
like there a cheap foreign car.

PeterQ9406 says:

profit you made?

zzzhuh says:

Is there anyway you can take the block apart and put a better part in?

inkey2 says:

@cipmars yeah, you might consider that…..emigrating to the USA.
Seriously…..they just love illegal aliens here. They treat them far
better than their tax paying citizens

cipmars says:

@inkey2 If I wanted to be a bloodsucker I’d do that, but at the state that
the US economy is in right now, even some US citizens consider being
illegal alines somewhere. So, no thanks for the offer.

Xavier leslie says:

true. i did the speed input sensor and i had to rebuild the 4t80e. but i
like it. would be 10 better as a rear wheel tho. but its fun working on
cars. the northstar aint bad. people just get lazy or back out when they
hear. remove engine and trans.

ATL ATL says:

i bought my caddi for 300$ too!!! hell yes

transdetendal says:

gotta give the others right it looks really neat, but then again , not
looking forward to head gasket change, no sir

Xbow361 says:

If I had the funds I would buy it

maeng9981 says:

I hear the Cadillac chime at 1:24, 1:35, and 1:46. Better check that out.

Xavier leslie says:

i want to. on one hand i want to kill him. on the other i have respect for
vets. but his just a drunk and i doubt his a vet. i need a new dash,
steering wheel, fuse box, bcm, door panel, and driverside leather seat.
then tear apart the engine, and gas tank and get that sugar out.

pionerbob says:

thats a really nice car man sweet

Xavier leslie says:

i hear ya. i’m selling my cadillac. a asshole decided to burn the interior
on my 00 gmc and poured sugar in my tank and crank case.

SUPERLACDEVILLE1 says:

You’ve NEVER worked on a Northstar.

Charlie Atkins says:

Good thing you sold it because the 4.6L DOHC (Northstar) is famous for
pulling the head bolt threads out of the block which leads to head gasket
problems

217zenki says:

One hell of a come up…

Raymond Walden says:

Nice looking car…. for 300 bucks, I’d just drive it, but then that’s me

WhoSaidTyler says:

Well Dan you made a good decision. These are very nice cars but they are
hell to repair if something…WHEN something goes wrong. What you are
demonstrating is correct but those Northstars can do several things to
indicate a failing headgasket, one of which is a miss on cold start that
goes away after 20 seconds or so. Headgasket failure is actually secondary
to the real cause which is the headbolts losing their tension because of
Dexcool eating the threads in the block away.

Frankie sturkie says:

I have one of these that look identical.not etc. or sunroof.has blown
gasket..need it gone.in excellent condition inside out

kevykev38 says:

Damn 300 bucks? Wow you lucky dog!

Lukas Maly says:

Such a nice and clean car!

thebibleisfiction says:

damn you wind!

bcrawdad1 says:

nice car though. id bet its hard to let go of her!it would be for me but
money talks

supreme2005 says:

Did you film this during a tornado?

Will C says:

I dont understand why folks love these so much or why they sell for so
much? Seems to be highly desired car & always see them under car covers.
But folks dogg out devilles?

Xavier leslie says:

lol a mechanic that doesn’t like his job. cadillac is easy to work on. you
just take your time.

rockinrollfan37 says:

have you ever had to remove the engine to repair the headbolts that pulled
out of the block?? i quit my job at G.M. after 10 years because i hate
effin CADILLAC!! they suck to work on! and they are way way overpriced JUNK!

cipmars says:

Man, 300 bucks?! I wanna emigrate to the US.

ghtowagon says:

How many miles were on that thing? It looks like new! Great paint!

Xbow361 says:

i love them cars i own one right now and its black and awesome

oscarmacaroni says:

what….!?

rpeek says:

She’s a beauty, but I’m like you. I’d let her ride while she can. I’d like
to have me one of those front wheel drive Caddy’s to make a trailer /
hauler out of, but I’d want an older one, with cast iron heads and such..
Thanks for sharing..

WhoSaidTyler says:

In fact unless you just plan to flip it like Dan did, don’t ever buy a
Northstar for a daily driver. It’s like a $20 hooker…it’s fun and cheap
but you never know WHAT you’ll end up with.

WhoSaidTyler says:

@phill903 It’s sold he said, and if you are a wise person, you will run
away from one of these as fast as possible…no offense.

r fox says:

Damn 300?! paid 600 for mine and it’s an esc?! Same color interior too
boot? If you you’ve been following these motors, then you know you’re
headed for headgasket territory.

Alfredo Gutierrez says:

That’s because they want to work.

E2daeloh says:

I have the same exact model n color ….can I have the vehicle info …I
want the seats please …n the arm rest

aode06 says:

You made a great choice, I serviced Cadillac vehicles at the dealership and
quit only after 6 months. I was tired of them not owning up to their
defective engine and electrical designs, and passing the bill onto hard
working americans, and not issuing recalls. Whats sad, till this date
engineers have done nothing nor announced any changes to fix their issues,
