Great video, I have a 98 Buick park ave, and I drove it today and felt
every bump in the road today. The rear was bouncing like yours. I think I
can tackle the shocks this weekend.

Keith Richards says:

Good job Amigo…

James Archer says:

Thank you, Thank you, and did I say Thank you. I figger your video gave me
about 2-5 hours free time due to the mistakes I did not make (and I am sure
I would have)

GRude420 says:

The place that welded a new muffler on my 99 park ave wanted 275 for rear
air shocks. I got a brand new pair on ebay for 37.09. Your video, it saved
me 230+ dollars. Two sockets, a 6 pack, and some time out in the sunshine.
Thank you.

Ryan Freeman says:

Where did you get the rear shocks from? I’m looking to replace them on an
’03 but I can’t find factory style anywhere.

Felix Callejas says:

I am changing the rear shocks. my car is the same as yours. Im looking into
buy Monroe Max-Air – Air Shock Absorbers it says something about electronic
suspension. Do I need electronic suspension or not? how about air struts?
Thanks

ponyboymidnight says:

I got a 1992 Park Ave. I need rear stuts and front ones as well, but the
rear ones have two bolts up “somewhere” in the top and you can’t see them.
I don’t see any access to get to them. Umm….do you have to take out the
back seat from the car for access?

bah53 says:

@randomrazr I think they called it something like that, I believe the
technical term was electronic leveling control or something like that.

YTGcom says:

Place around the road wanted $250 to put the new shocks on my 1999 buick
park avenue ultra super charged. You just helped me put them on for free in
20 minutes. Thanks!

bah53 says:

@More350Power There fun to drive with bad shocks, for a while at least.

bah53 says:

Gearheadtom says:

and I thought the back shocks on my truck were bad… I guess one still
kinda functioned… and the other rusted through and all leaked out… and
the the tap from the almost completely gone top bushings was annoying lol

hp11208 says:

U have alot of cars like davidfarms something like that

Mike Pasquariello says:

my last truck ($70 2wd 87 f150) had toast front shocks i didnt have much
money so i only put one new one in the front drove like that for a while
then sold it for $700 (i only paid $70 for it and drove it for a year) then
i save up and got a perfect 1990 f250 4wd for $1000

boat6868 says:

Thanks for posting!

randomrazr says:

i have that same type of shock on my 86 park avenue. i ebelvied they called
this air ride? where it pumps air to raise or lower the back when theres
weight.

ponyboymidnight says:

The black cap is there but it doesn’t take the strut loose from the upper
mount. There are two bolts about 7/16 inch on either side of the main bolt
which I am told have to be taken loose. Then the whole bit comes loose from
the top mount….the bearing plate et al. I just don’t see how to get to
the darn bolts and heard that you take out the back seat, pull the plastic
liner loose and there is your access. . I’m not as young and flexible as I
used to be!

amandadrewes says:

Ok I have a 1995 Buick Park Avenue and I just replaced that rear air struts
on it and my air pump worked good before I replaced them and now it dont
even run? At first it was a very rough ride and people said they will
settle. They did settle but then my tires had a lean to them. We took the
tire off and the bottom bolts were loose so we tightened them up. It was
rough again and once it settled my tires had a lean to them once again! We
didnt unplug the fuse? Do you think it blew?

bah53 says:

On my 98 Park Ave I got away without removing the upper mount but your 92
may very well have a different setup and it may be necessary to remove the
upper mount, and the back seat to gain access to it. As for flexibility, my
advice is to find some friends that are willing to work for a free case of
beer haha.

mechadrake says:

Thats air ride car? nice. i have hydro pneumatic citroen xm, that rides
really soft and comfy. Does Buick rides good?

More350Power says:

@bah53 Oh yea, and if you have shocks in the front, when those go……..
and I mean completely blow out the whole way around, its not a good ride lol

blazerlover25 says:

great job but DAMNIT!! you went and fixed the ghetto lowrider lol

More350Power says:

Nice, I would say it appears to be a night and day difference! I had a car
like that, rear shocks completely gone, bounced at every stop light LOL!

Shawn Johnson says:

great video! Thanks to you I just did my shocks in my lesabre on my
own..with very little mechanical skill..nice and simple only took about an
hour too

bah53 says:

@Polymath95 Nope, this car only has struts in the front.

Michael Keller says:

Advance auto parts has them

Roy Campbell says:

Thank you

palaimarp says:

You’re the man haha thanks for the video! I’ve never replaced air shocks
before and my step dads got a Buick just like this one, and you basically
answered all of my questions word for word haha thanks again!

Polymath95 says:

Did you have to replace the struts?

bah53 says:

@mechadrake Its not a true air ride where the springs are replaced with
airbags but its an auto leveling system that uses air to level the car when
there is more weight in the back. It does ride pretty good now that its
fixed.

The Blind Sniper says:

Finally got my 1993 LeSabre back up and running after a year and a half of
arguing with my dad about what was wrong with. He wanted to replace the
engine over replacing a $20 head cover gasket. Now the engine doesnt smoke
like hell.

MissingLinkMusik says:

You have no idea how much you’ve helped me! I was a little hesitant to do
this job myself but you’ve saved me a lot of money! I love all your videos!
Keep doing your thing!

Darren Rubendall says:

Thanks for this video. It gave me the confidence to do the job myself. I
probably saved $150. I dealt with a couple of screw heads that broke off.
Drilling them out was kind of tough but worth it.

bah53 says:

I never had a Park Avenue of that vintage but if it is like the Lesabres it
should have a black cap over the top of the upper shock bolt inside the
trunk behind the carpet.

hp11208 says:

The 99 are struts ?
